Does Power Wire of Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Kit for 2017 Buick Encore Have to Run to Vehicle Battery
Question:
My question was regarding the Tekonsha 118745 T-One trailer wiring I am installing on my 2017 Buick Encore. Does it have to be connected to the tow vehicle’s battery, or can the unit operate the trailer’s turn signals and brake lights just powered off of the tow vehicle’s taillights that it connects to?

Not all vehicles can handle the additional amperage draw of the trailer taillights on the vehicle taillight circuits. Those vehicles need setup that draws power from the battery. Some vehicles have higher rated circuits that can handle this, and others need to have the power drawn straight from the battery to protect the taillight circuits.
For your 2017 Buick Encore you need to install a harness that draws power from the battery to protect the taillight circuits. For that you would need the part # 118673 that you referenced. I also attached a help article on running the power wire for you to check out as well.
