Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind your rear bumper, on the driver's side and passenger's side.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Hardest part of the project was uninstalling a very old, ill-fitting wiring harness which was installed by a previous owner. The previous harness never worked as it should. The new Hopkins harness installed easily and works flawlessly. I’m a happy guy, and my trailer lights operate as they should!

2006 Toyota Tacoma
I just installed on my truck, it took me about 20 minutes. very professional product. looks like factory install minus the wiring loom, however it does have fiber wrap where it matters which is an important detail. now I don't have to worry about shorts in my wiring since you don't have to slice and splice, which ain't so nice. My only regret is that I didn't include in my order a mounting bracket which is $3-$5 which would have really buttoned up the project nicely. (this should be a suggested purchase when ordering these kits). As far as e-trailer... I got the product FAST! No Damage! Everything included! 2THUMBS UP. The only improvement I could suggest is 4 more zip ties included. you wouldn't need anything else.

This worked perfectly! Since Toyota decided that no towing package was necessary on the Tacoma SR, etrailer did what Toyota should do from the factory. They made it easy for me to add the wiring.

2008 Toyota Tacoma
Really easy to install. Just one thing... All of the wires in the harness are well wrapped and protected except one green wire that runs the full width of the vehicle. I went to NAPA and got some spiral wrap to protect it. Other than that, it works great. Took me 30 minutes to install, not counting the spiral wrap.
