Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Chevrolet Sonic with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold, some interior lining and/or paneling, and the tail light assemblies to access these connection points.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead with the attached fuse holder to the car battery. Connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with a four way flat trailer connector. This product fits certain years and models of the Chevrolet Sonic. To ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can use the vehicle fit guide, located at etrailer.com. This unit's going to provide a four way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with five pole, six pole and seven pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately and it's going to come with a dust cap for the four way flat connector.
That way you can cover up the connection points when your plug's not being used. Now the unit does feature protective connection terminals to help it resist rust and corrosion and last a longer time. The black box right here is the included taillight converter. This is going to ensure that your vehicles wiring matches that of your trailers. The power module connects directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring to avoid overloading your vehicles electrical system. Now the unit is designed to connect quickly and easily.
All you need to do is locate the connection points behind your taillights and hen you need to plug in your connectors. These connectors are going to match up perfectly with the ports on your vehicle. They're going to snap lock together for a nice, tight secure fit. One of them goes to the passenger side of the vehicle. The other one goes to the drivers side of the vehicle.
Once you have those connected you'll need to make a ground connection. Your ground wires are whiter wire with a ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a suitable grounding location and you can use the included self tapping screw to get that grounded. Then you'll need to mount your converter box. You want to do that to a nice, secure out of the way location.
You can do that with the provided cable ties. Once you have that done, you'll need to run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is this red wire right here, it has a butt connector attached to it. This connects to one end of the bundle of red wiring. The other end of the bundle runs to the vehicle battery, gets connected to one half of the fuse holder here with the butt connector. The other half of the fuse holder gets connected to the positive post to the vehicle battery. The unit does come with a 15 amp fuse and it's got the cap that goes over it to keep safe and protected. Once you have that done, you can secure any excess or slack in your wiring with the included cable ties. Then once your installation's complete the four way connector's going to be stowed in your cargo area. Plenty of wiring here, that way you can extend it out the back when you need to use it and then roll it back up and tuck it away when it's not being used. It is recommended that you use a small amount of terminal grease on all your electrical connections like the plugs on the vehicle and four pole connector itself. That grease is going to help prevent corrosion and it is included with the kit. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with a four way flat trailer connector.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.Works great and was easy to install.
Easy to install. I did however pull out a rubber plug and cut a slit in it big enough to fit the connector and bring it through underneath to the hitch. I also pulled the power wire through the same rubber plug and ran it under the car to the battery instead of through the interior of the car as in the video. Filled the slit I made in the rubber plug with silicone.
I wasn’t expecting to receive the package on time because we were dealing with Hurricane Laura but somehow the package was still delivered on the date I was quoted. That’s going above and beyond your commitment to customer satisfaction. Can’t express in words how your company is true to your customers. Thank you!
This is an excellent product that is very well explained in the accompanying video. The video made the entire process installing it simple and easy to understand. Thank you

The manufacturer specifically designed the harness so the connector would be deployed from the interior of the vehicle when needed. This way, the connector is protected from damage when its not being used. The rear hatch of your vehicle has weatherstipping thats thick enough that the wire for the trailer connector wont be damaged as long as you avoid the latch area.
