This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold plate and some of the trunk lining to access this harness.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Video Transcript for Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - HM11141595 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Plug-In Simple vehicle wiring harness with the 4 pole flat trailer connector. This product fits a 2006 to 2013 Chevrolet Impala, it's going to provide a four way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5 pole, 6 pole, and 7 pole adapters, adapters are sold separately, and it's going to come with the dust cap with four way flat plug, that way you can cover up the connection points when it's not being used. It's also going to feature protective connection terminals that are designed to resist rust and corrosion. This unit's designed to connect quickly and easily, no cutting or splicing is required, all you have to do is locate the connection points in your rear cargo area, and then you're going to have two sets of connectors to get plugged in. One set is going to go to the passenger's side of the vehicle, the other set is going to go to the driver's side. Again, custom fit, so the plugs are going to match up perfectly with the parts on the vehicle, and they're going to snap lock together for a nice tight secure fit.

Once you have those connected, you'll need to make your ground connection, that's going to be your white wire with the ring terminal already attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a nice, clean metal location with the included grounding screw, and then you can use the cable ties or nye ties to secure any excess or slack in the wires that you may have. Now, once your installation's complete, the four way connectors are going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to keep the connectors secure and easily accessible. Mounting brackets are sold separately, and you can find them right here at eTrailer.com if you're in need of one.

It's also recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle, and the 4 pole connect itself. That grease is going to help prevent corrosion, and the grease is included with the kit. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins Plug-In Simple vehicle wiring harness with the 4 pole flat trailer connector.

See what our Experts say about this Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring

  • Why Does Hopkins Trailer Wiring Harness Install Differently than Others for a 2011 Chevy Impala
The Curt wiring harness # C56046 as well as the Tekonsha harness # 118417 both plug into just one side of the 2011 Chevy Impala. The main tail light wiring harness that runs from the front to the back of the vehicle is located on that side so it is possible to just tap into that harness. The Hopkins harness # HM11141595 is just a different design. The connectors for the passengers side do not have the wiring in them to get the signals for the left side of the vehicle like the other harnesses...
