Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind your tail lights. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this CURT T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole Flat Trailer Connector. This is gonna provide a four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle, so you can power up your trailer's signal lights. And that way other motorists can tell if you're stopping, or turning, or driving at night, make sure that you're legal and safe as you're going down the road. This system is gonna be compatible with your five pole, six pole and seven pole trailer wiring systems with an adapter. Those adapters are sold separately but it will still power up your trailer signal lights if you use one of those adapters.
This system is custom fit for your 2023 Honda HR-V. This is going to be very simple to get installed because we have that custom wiring connections so you're not gonna have to worry about splicing into your vehicle's wiring. You just simply unplug the wiring connections that are there, plug this in line and that's going to re-complete that circuit so that your taillights will work properly on your vehicle but then it'll also send that signal out to your trailer as well. This does have a trailer light converter that's going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer so that your trailer's lights will function properly. It does have a powered module that's going to connect to the battery of your vehicle to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system.
This will provide 7.5 amps per circuit for your stop and turn lights, as well as 7.5 amps per circuit for your tail lights. To get this installed, it is gonna be a pretty straightforward process. They do include instructions to walk you through every step with pictures to make sure that everything's being installed properly. But just to give you a quick overview of how it's gonna work, like I said, you'll unplug the connections for your vehicle's taillights. Plug this in line there.
That will re-complete that circuit. You'll run the green wire over to your passenger side. Do the same thing there. This system, your module here, is going to adhere to a solid surface. They do include some double-sided foam tape here, so that that will be securely attached.
We've got a white ground wire. They do include a self-tapping screw so that you can get that grounded to a metal surface. Then we have our black wire that's going to be run up to our battery. You can see it is pretty short, but they do include lots of wire so that you can run that from the back of your vehicle up to your battery. So they've got a couple butt connectors there to make that connection between that wire. They also have a fuse holder, so you'll snip that have one end and that we'll use a butt connector to connect to the other end of your wire up by your battery. And then the other end, they've got a ring terminal here so that you can put that on the positive side of your battery on the positive post. And then you've got your included fuse that will go in place and allow that to be protected. They also include some zip ties to make sure that as you're running this wire up and you can keep it in a wherever you like it. You do wanna make sure that as you're running this wire up to your battery compartment and that you're gonna stay away from anything that's hot or moving that could potentially damage the wire. And this is probably gonna be the, the most difficult part of the whole installation, just running this wire. It can be kind of time consuming especially if you don't have your vehicle lifted up on jacks trying to run that up. It might be a little bit challenging but definitely something that you can do. And then your four pole flat trailer connector wiring here is gonna be at the back of your vehicle. They do include a dust cap so that you can protect those connections from dirt and debris and that sort of thing. And then I'll be ready for you to plug it, plug in and hook up to your trailer. So overall, a really simple system here for your Honda HR-V. Great way to add that wire in so that you can easily pull your trailer. That completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
