Hi everybody, my name is Andy with etrailer.com. And today we're taking a look at Coghlan's Camping Shovel with Saw. This shovel is going to offer you a digging and sawing tool all in one. Let's take a closer look at it. Now this folding compact shovel is going to be ideal for camping. It's gonna to be great for digging trenches and for cutting branches.

Also, it's gonna to help you make fire pits and much more. This shovel does fold into the handle as you can see here for compact storage. And it does lock into not only the closed position, but also at a 90 degree angle. And then also when it is fully extended, it's going to lock in there nice and secure for your digging needs. The handle is also extendable.

So by giving this release knob a little bit of a turn, you can bring that out to however far you really need it. And then you can twist that and lock that in to extend your reach. So this has a tubular steel shaft, so it is nice and sturdy and secure, and it has a really pretty decent weight to it. And the shovel blade is going to be tough and it's gonna be a tempered shovel blade. Now what makes this unique is the handle does store a saw blade.

So let me show you how you get to that. This is gonna be the handle that I have taken out, and you just give this knob here a twist, and that is going to provide a saw blade that is five and a half inches long. So there's the saw blade and the saw blade is relatively sharp. And then you're supposed to screw it back into the handle. Now I'm gonna be, I will let you know, I'm not real impressed with how this works.

The idea is you screw this into the handle and it's going to be secure. And it is anything but secure. I don't believe that this would effectively saw anything for you in this handle just because it will not stay locked into place. So I really could not recommend this for the, the saw feature. As you can see, It's kind of loose and a little bit of plastic even. This is just plastic in casing here, and it's just not holding secure in this, in this steel handle. So I would not recommend the shovel for the saw feature. I do think that could be a safety issue as well, but if you're interested in just the overall length of this, let me put that in there. As I said the saw blade itself was sitting right at about five and a half inches, just the blade itself. And then the overall length is going to be right at about 12 and a half almost 13 inches long. So that's gonna to be the saw blade when it is mounted into the handle. So then the idea is you unscrew this but again, it just comes on down way too easy for me. And then you screw this back into the handle. And then the handle goes back into the shovel then I'm just gonna leave it extended here. And I will say that this locking knob or this knob that provides tension. It does make this handle secure. So I don't think that you're gonna have to worry about that handle coming loose. So let me give you a few measurements here while we have this extended. The overall length of this shovel with the handle extended is gonna be sitting right at about 23 and a quarter inches long. And then with the handle retracted, Well it'll be sitting right at about, right at about 18 and three quarters inches across. And then looking at it folded, the overall length of it folded is gonna be right at, that up here a little bit. Right at a foot. Right at a foot across. And then if you're interested in the measurement of the blade, the width of the blade is sitting right at five and three quarters inches wide. And the length of the blade will be sitting right at about eight and three eighths inches long.
