Hey, everybody, Gerald etrailer.com Today I'm going to take a look at the GSI Outdoors glacier coffee percolator. Now this is a nice way to brew 36 hot servings of coffee for you and your friends, or to get the day started. The stainless steel construction resists rust and corrosion. And it has this nice hinge lid to ensure you won't misplace it when you need it. And anybody that's used percolators before, you know how important that lid is to make sure it functions the way it's supposed to. It does have a handle on the side and then also a carrying a handle on top.
So right now it's not that big of a deal when it weighs at 3.44 pounds. But when you get water in here and the grinds and it's making your coffee it's gonna be a little bit heavier, right So you're going to be happy you have those two points of contact in order to pour it out. They have a perfect brew knob on here which lets you gauge the strength of your brew without opening the lid. And they had this pour spout to minimize dripping. Now, if you used percolators before, you know how easy the process is to make the coffee that you want.
However, if you're unfamiliar, it does come with this inside here, parts, which is a three piece design that has a stem, the inner basket and also the cover Now with the inner basket is where you're gonna put your coffee grinds. You're gonna go ahead and place that cover on top. You'll then pour in your 36 cups of water. Place that inside of this, shut the lid, make sure it's nice and secure, and then place it on your heating source. And without too much time going by you're going to have those 36 hot servings ready for you.
If you consider the dimensions, we will see that this is 11 inches long. It stands at 11 11/16 inches tall and the width is 9 5/16. As I said before, it does weigh 3.44 pounds without anything in there, and it brews 36 cups. Now there's a limited lifetime warranty. I am really enjoying this glass as an addition to my camping/picnicking/travel gear. I have tried to get on board with the whole stemless idea... cannot do it! I have also tried other types of unbreakable wine glasses. They all feel cheap, and do not stand the test of time for quality, looking etched and scratched after a trip or two. This is the second glass I've purchased, so I have one for a guest. The stem stored inside the bowl is ingenious. This glass is stable, even on what passes for level at a campsite. The base even fits in the cup holder on the side table of my favorite camp chair. I use it in the backyard, no broken glass to worry about with a rambunctious dog or child about. Picnics, camping, neighborhood potlucks, even everyday, thus was a nice addition to my lifestyle.

This is the perfect size for my early morning coffee. I'm doing a solo cross USA truck tent camping for all stops and needed this size pot that I wasn't sure existed. I’m going to send this back. When I was disappointed that it was made in China. But the main thing was that it was listed as a glass top on the lid. That was why I didn’t get one from the other company. I was really disappointed when I got it. But I’m going to return it.

It is a great little coffee percolator. Since it is very difficult to find "coarse ground" coffee, you will want to poke a hole in a standard flat bottom coffee filter and put it in the basket unless you like fine grounds in your coffee.
