Ellen: Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're taking a quick look at the GSI Outdoors Pioneer Chef's Tools. So you're going to get three tools in one package, or in this one kit. So you'll have your ladle for pouring out soup, or anything kind of more liquidy, grabbing a bunch of rice, beans, or anything else like that. A spoon to stir, also kind of scrape, a little bit shallower. And then you'll also have a spatula, great for flipping anything over, burgers, biscuits, eggs, anything like that. So, it's kind of the basics, as far as those kitchen tools that you'll need when you're out at the campsite. The nice thing about these is that they are made with a through tang.
So this metal portion goes all the way through the handle to give it some nice durability and strength, but then you'd also have this kind of reinforced enamel piece to give you a little bit of protection from heat. Of course, it's always a good idea if this has been just sitting in the fire, or not sitting in the fire, but sitting in the pot for a while, you want to use probably at least a bandana, or a mitt, or something. Because it will probably transfer a bit of heat through that since it is metal, but just always want to be careful with that.As far as size here, I'll give you some measurements just for reference. So for our spatula, it's about 14 1/2" long. Spoon is about 13.
And the ladle is about 12 1/2. So they don't really like stack together, or anything like that. They're just going to kind of sit together. You could just put them together with a bungee cord, rubber band, or something like that. They do all go together pretty well like that, as far as nesting together, but the handles don't really nest in.
They will sit on a nail pretty well with the way the handle curves down. So it should be pretty easy to hang them. If you want to hang them from a carabiner, or something like that off your pack, you could always do that as well. But that's pretty much all there is to it for our quick look at the Pioneer Chef's Tools. I hope that this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right kit for you.
We do have a lot of camping gear here at etrailer.com from GSI and others. So you definitely should check that out, and thanks for watching..
