Brophy Tie Downs Dimensions and Specs

Angled Bracket Makes for Easy Hookup

These particular tie-downs are designed with an angled bracket that gives you more clearance between the tie-down anchor points and your truck's fenders. This extra space makes it much easier to attach and tighten your turnbuckles (sold separately) when you're securing your camper.

No-Drill Installation

These clamp-on tie-downs install quickly and easily, with no drilling or modification to your truck required. Because they're mounted in the bed instead of on the frame or body of your truck, you don't need any kind of fancy mechanical background to get this job done. You just need to slide the hold downs over the rails of your truck and clamp them down with T-bars and hex bolts.

HoldDown Side View

The fact that they simply clamp on means that you can remove these tie-downs when you're not hauling your camper, leaving no trace. Use the provided neoprene pads on the T-bolts and tie-downs where they will make contact with your truck to make sure no scratches or dents will be left behind either.

where to put camper tie downs

It's important that the tie-downs on your truck line up with the anchors on your camper at the correct angle to ensure a secure hold. Ideally the tie-downs should be on the outside of your camper's anchor points, but they can be on the inside as well, just as long as they're not lined up with each other.

Securing your Camper

Camper with TieDowns

To secure your camper to your truck, you'll also need a tie-down hardware package consisting of turnbuckles, S-hooks, and chains (TDHP - sold separately). This hardware attaches the anchors on your camper to the tie-downs on your truck to keep your camper safely mounted. Once you tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!), you'll be good to hit the road.

The Brophy tie-downs work just as advertised. I am a recreational user of my camper - not full-time or long trips, and have had no issues with them. The only challenge is backing my truck under the camper with the brackets mounted - like threading a needle, because the leg stands barely clear the brackets. I have a 2-16 F-250 and a Northstar 650 and their is not enough clearance in the bed to add the brackets after the camper is in position. Again, this is not a problem with the brackets, its a camper leg/stand and bed width issue.

by:

Easy to put on they work perfectly very solid I have a 20-22 palomino SS 1251 truck camper Badland Edition doing a great job thank you a bunch

by:

Works great with the bike rack. Looks nice, easy installation. I'm glad I bought it. I would recommend.

by:

by:

simple install, well made . Using on my pop up truck camper

by:

I am so happy with your Angled Hold Downs. Especially how they clamp to the bed of my truck and I didn't have to drill any holes. They do a great job and I have no worries when the girls take it camping for the weekend... I do worry about the safety of my pickup though. hahaha

As always my order arrived early. The box was not in great shape but nothing was lost out the holes. Poor delivery guy could barely get it to the porch. I was surprised at how heavy they are. It took me about half an hour to get them installed. I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500. The shape of the inside of the truck was a pain to work around. I couldn't set the front tie downs as far forward as I would have liked, but it will work. Haven't got the camper yet but I'm sure they will be perfect. I have seen these on many pickups here in western Colorado. The installation video made my choice easy ...NO HOLES TO DRILL.

by:

After installing the tie downs per the instructions I proceeded to connect a turnbuckle with chains and upon tightening it down the Brophy tie downs turned towards the camper connection point. In other words they would not tighten up.

I wanted to ask if you can send a picture of how the tie downs are installed. I want to help to make sure that you can use the tie downs.

by:

Items in the box were not secure and clearly banged around during shipping. Box was torn in a number of places and resulted losing the T-bolts. I discovered Friday evening, and called etrailer the next morning. Person indicated you don't ship on Saturday but would go out Monday morning and she'd mark it priority. She indicated I could expect delivery on Tuesday or Wednesday. I received notice of the delivery on Friday as I was on the way to Canada fishing for a week. Needless to say I got creative and used pieces of 2x2 instead to leverage brackets to truck bed side. When I got home I looked at the T-bolts and think I will stick with the wood. There is no coating on the T-bolts so would likely damage the bed lining.

by:

1) Poor quality product: The nuts for the bed clamp can't even be tightened all the way due to poor design, friction with the body of the clamp.
2) The neoprene pads referenced in the instructions weren't included in my package.
3) Fast shipping time and good communication from eTrailer

I know that these tie downs are considered to be more universal. The external bed rail cannot be more than 5.5 inches wide and there needs to be at least 2 inches of space under the lips of the rail. Would you be able to send a picture of how yours is installed? Just be sure that you do not have a double- wall or step side bed. I will have Customer Service reach out to you about the missing neoprene pads. We will have them sent out.

by:

The product itself will do the job, after I spend some precious time to clean it up. I was amazed that all the individual parts and hardware made it, since the box was totally destroyed. All of the powder coating of the plates are badly scratched, down to raw metal, just from banging and sliding against each other. A couple corners of the thinner metal flanges are bent, too.
This package looked like it was drop-kicked down a flight of cement stairs in a fit of rage.
Unfortunately, I need this to work ASAP, and will repair and modify to suit my needs. Never mind how I feel, or the principal of the matter, but I feel some refund or discount is in order.
I’m sure it left Brophy’s manufacturing facility looking shiny and straight.
I’m sure they could improve their packaging.
I’m certainly sure that etrailer could indentify this obvious issue and take some steps of their own to maintain a happy clientele, like simply throwing it into another heavy box.

It certainly sounds like the tie downs did have a rough ride in shipping. Customer Service will reach out to you.

by:

Your service was great. The products I ordered arrived ahead of schedule. Also the tie downs look to be of great quality--very heavy, I can't wait to try them this weekend. The shipping box took a real beating. The packaging tape worked well at holding the box together. The only suggestion I have is that you might consider using a stronger cardboard box or reinforcing it somehow to withstand the handling of your products while being shipped.

by:

These tie downs worked great for my Toyota Tundra. I was securing a light weight camper.

by:

the clamp ons didn't allow for the plastic cover over the truck bed rails to remain in place on the 2022 Nissan Frontier KC with 6' 1" box.

by:

I have a Sunlight, 8 foot, slide-in truck camper that I now carry in a 2015 Dodge 1500 Quad Cab. I use the Brophy angled tie downs for the front of the camper and Happijac bumper tie down for the rear. It took some tweeking and the right combination of hardware to connect the Brophy tie down to the camper but in the end it all came together and I'm very happy with the results. They are relatively easy to install and make a solid, safe tie down system. I would recommend them to a friend.

by:

I installed the angled camper hold-downs today and it took me all of fifteen minutes. I was impressed at how heavy-duty they are. I am very pleased with the product.

Well, its been a year since I installed the hold-downs on my truck and I am still very satisfied with them. They have been in use several times and in fact I am leaving next week on a two week hunting trip to Colorado.

by:

Product was easy to install, worked great. It held on some pretty knarly roads.
etrailer is a great company to work with as well.

by:

Really impressed with the product and installation was really simple good quality product I would recommend it to anyone

by:

Excellent product - super fast shipping - perfect fit for my 2019 Ram Turbo diesel 3/4 ton 4x4. Plenty of clearance.

by:

The ease of installation and the robust product makes this a great go to for truck camping.

by:

The service was great and the staff was more than willing to help with any issues the only reason I gave it four stars was that the website was misleading

by:

Just put on mt 2019 Ram 2500.

by:

Everything was correct to my order standard delivery was very fast

by:

Good quality but to wide off bed doesn’t clear camper jacks

  • Compatibility of Brophy Camper Tie-Downs with 1998 GMC Dually Pickup Truck
The Brophy Clamp On Camper Tie-Downs - Bed Mount - Black Powder Coated Steel - Qty 4 # HSSF are not recommended for dually trucks. They are a fit for most full-size, non-dually pickup trucks according to the manufacturer. I did reach out the manufacturer and they said you may be able to use the # HSSF or the # HSAB but they have not tested it on a 1998 GMC dually.
