Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this OptiMate Lithium 4 Series eight-step, AC to DC, four-bank smart battery charger and maintainer. Now, this is a compact smart charger that will draw power from an AC wall outlet to automatically charge, test, and maintain four lithium-iron phosphate batteries. It is designed to work with the 12.8 volt LiFePO4 batteries, also known as LFP batteries. Now, the LiFePO4 batteries are good potential replacement for lead-acid batteries in applications such as RVs, electric vehicles, motorcycles, boats, and solar applications.
Now, it is highly recommended to charge lithium batteries in series with a multi-bank charger like this one. This means each battery is charged at the same time, but completely independent of each other. This one offers four battery banks that allow the batteries to be charged to 100% quicker and at the correct amperage. It does use an eight-step charging algorithm, which will automatically save, charge, test and maintain without overcharging. Basically, it will analyze the battery condition to provide a customized charge and it'll test automatically and indicate if there's a battery problem.
And also, this will safely wake battery with the integrated BMS protection out of the sleep mode to charge correctly. Now, to charge it, it does offer, it also comes with the different type of connections you need to the batteries. It comes with the four battery clamp cables. These cables will provide a nice, quick, easy way to connect to the batteries. You can see, uses the clamps that will connect to the post.
And on this end is the SAE connector, which will connect to the connectors on the charger. And the total length on these is about 20 inches. The other way you can connect is a little more permanent. It gives you four of the eyelet cables. And what those do is they let you make a secure connection to your battery terminals.
They do also include a 15 amp inline fuse, which would protect the electronics from potential short circuits. And they're the same way, on the other end, they'll have this SAE connector for connecting to your charger. But what's nice on these, since they're usually more permanently, they have a nice weatherproof seal when they're connected. And when they're not connected, they have a nice cap that'll keep out any dirt and water. And same way on these, the cable length is about 20 inches. And again, they come with four each on those. This is a very simple operation. It uses LED lights that will indicate charging status. It does have an auto-memory feature, which remembers the last selection if power is lost. And it is in a nice, durable weatherproof case, which includes wall mounts, two or one at each corner. You can see right here, to mount it onto the wall. Comes with a six foot long AC supply lead for plugging into your AC outlet. And it comes with four different six foot charge leads to connect to the batteries with the SAE connectors. Also, what's nice is this does come with an instruction booklet that you can learn all about how this works and how it operates. But if you don't have that booklet handy, it has a QR code on the charger itself that you can scan with a personal device and it'll pull up all the instructions you need. Application again, this is for four 12.8 to 13.2 volt lithium batteries from two to 30 amp hours. The battery types that is supported are the LiFePO4, which are the lithium-iron phosphate batteries. And the maximum charging amperage is .8 amps per bank. But that should do it for the review on this OptiMate Lithium 4 Series eight-step, AC to DC, four-bank smart battery charger and maintainer..
