How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Yakima SideBar on our OutPost HD, which is mounted to our 2023 Ford F-150. Your SideBar is equipped with a T-track slot that's gonna work with your Yakima accessories. So you can add in hook loops, your RotopaX accessory mounts for your jerry cans, as well as recovery track mounting brackets as well that slide right in. And so you're gonna get that much more usability along with your HD bars with your OutPost or OverHaul. The SideBar has a hundred-pound weight capacity that's gonna allow you to get a lot of extra weight to the sides of your vehicle. You just wanna keep that in mind when you're loading up your gear.
Your crossmember also is gonna offer an extra measure of support for your OutPost system or OverHaul system as far as giving additional stability by having that crossmember between the uprights. What that means for you is if you have a rooftop tent, a cargo box, or anything that's getting to the higher capacities of your OutPost system, you'll be able to get a little bit more stability as far as what you have loaded up. The SideBar's installation is super easy. You just have four bolts that go right into the weld nuts in your uprights for your OverHaul and OutPost system. So now that we took a look at some of the features, let me show you how easy it is to install it on your truck.
We're gonna start our installation by laying our parts out. I already put our first bar on our driver side. And now, I'm gonna walk through the installation for the passenger side. You're gonna use the Allen head to loosen the retaining screw to extend it out. Another thing to just be aware of, if you we inchesre needing to put it in the shortest configuration, you will remove these guys to get this section off to get it to the shortest length.
I'm just gonna leave that still loose, and we're gonna take our hardware, which is a flat washer, lock washer, and hex head screw. So now that we have our adjustment made loose enough so we can stretch it if we need to, we'll get it installed on our OutPost, making use of our brackets that fall in right here at the end of our bar. And we're gonna grab our hardware sets and get it mounted. So I'm gonna take my plastic fittings and slide those right into the edge and hold it into place with one of my bolts. (bolt clinking) And then, finger tighten it in the upright of our OutPost.
And then, do the same towards the tailgate. And these top bolts are gonna hold my bar in place, so we can get everything fastened down. (bolt clinking) Now, I'm gonna take my Allen key and tighten these guys down a little bit more just so I can feel a little bit more secure, but not too much, so I still have play at the bottom to get the bolts in. And now, I'm gonna install the bottom bolts on both sides. (bolt rasping) Now that we have our bar secured to the OutPost, you can take advantage of your T-track slots to mount your gear to the outside of your vehicle. It’s exactly what I needed. It came quickly and intact; however the box was damaged during shipping and the rails were shipped in the retail box which is not appropriate for shipping. I like the product and it will work perfectly for my needs.
