Ellen: Hi, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Taylor Made Rail-Mount Boat Fender Line Clips. So these are going to keep your fender line in place. These can just clip onto a seven eighths inch railing to help hold that fender up and keep it secure. So they'll just snap into place there, or you can also use these kind of with an adjustable design. That's what this cleat at the top is for, so you can wrap your cable around there and keep it tied off there.
In addition, you could also use this for power cords if you wanted to, or really anything that you'd want to be able to tie off and attach to a secure point.So I've just got a railing here just to demonstrate how this snaps over in place. So it'll just snap down and then it holds pretty tight, pretty secure. It doesn't really want to turn too much. So it should do a pretty good job of keeping your fender safe, and then we can just loop the rope from our fender through there, tie a little knot at the one end, and then you should be good to go. So you can roll that down there, or again if you want to use that adjustable option, I'll take this off here, we have our knot through and then we can actually just make a loop and then grab it with that hook and tie off the excess with the cleat, so that's an option as well, if you want to do it that way.As far as the size, I'm going to give you some dimensions here.
Trying to undo my knot. Put that to the side. So our whole unit here is going to measure about three and a quarter inches long. That's from the very back of that hoop with that loop there to the topmost part of the cleat. The widest portion, which is this outside kind of knuckle here, that's about an inch and a half wide, and then it's about five eighths of an inch thick.
The diameter on that hole for a rope to go through is just about, I'd say just about three eighths of an inch in diameter. The throat opening here, the smallest point is about three quarters of an inch. This wider portion is about seven eights. It does have a little bit of give, so if your railing is more like an inch, it should still work for that as well, but you want to be careful that you don't snap it onto something too large and then it breaks. Great product! We are using them on 7/8" SS railing on a 16' 7" 1966 Boston Whaler. The fender clip works great because it is snug enough to grip the rail and stay put. However, it is flexible enough to easily slide or remove as needed. Our previous systems slid all over the rails creating a lack of confidence (adding worry) that the fenders would stay where they were needed.
The clips are well designed and of a strong/solid plastic material. They are rounded, small and unobtrusive which is important on a small boat.
We bought 2 packages (4 clips total) and, after testing, we bought 2 more packages. We are the original owners of the 1966 Whaler and these are the best clips we have ever had over 54 years.
One final note: While the original order shipped immediately, the product got "stuck" in the last "USPS" portion of the delivery. I called etrailer.com, spoke to a live person immediately and had a replacement order delivered in just 2 days. Amazing! The 2nd order also arrived very quickly.
This grips our whaler rails well. Yet, they are easy to move or remove. Very functional!
These clips are great. They make my bumpers far more convenient to use. Highly recommended!
