Today we're going to review part number AM3424. This is the Andersen Rapid Hitch Ball Combo with the 2" and 2-5/16" Hitch Balls in a Chrome-Plated Steel. This is designed to fit in the Andersen Rapid Hitch Adjustable Ball Mounts only. This is a rapid hitch interchangeable ball combo that gives you two different hitch ball sizes, one on each end. This is a zinc chrome finish which gives you good looks and rust resistance. It has a two-sided platform, as you can see the 2" ball right here on one side, 2-5/16" on the other. The capacities on this, and they are stamped on the top, the 2-5/16" hitch ball has a capacity of 10,000 pounds gross towing weight capacity and a 1,500 pound tongue weight capacity.
The 2" ball, it's stamped on there, has an 8,000 gross towing weight capacity. This is designed to be held in place by an internal pin that would go right through here into the housing itself. That internal pin is sold separately. It is part number AM3440 and it is listed on this product page as a related product. When you do put that pin in there to hold this in place, it helps prevent loosening of this in the ball housing and again it allows you to interchange the balls if needed. This part does meet the SAEJ684 and the V5 towing standards. As I mentioned earlier again this is designed for the Andersen Rapit Hitch Ball Mounts only. I have had my Rapid Hitch nine years now, I have no idea how many miles I have towed both open and enclosed trailers. Although my locks are showing a little rust, everything looks near new, except my 2 5/16 ball. So I decided to replace it for the first time. Ordered the replacement from etrailer, recieved my order in three days and I'm very pleased. I think I'll order replacement locks this week and it will look like a completely new hitch.

I have had the Andersen Hitches "Rapid Hitch" adjustable hitch with the greaseless plastic caps for a few years now. In theory it seems like a great idea, but I can no longer get the caps to stay on, even with buying new caps. I tried adhesive to no avail. I decided to go with the regular hitch balls as replacing just a few of the caps will pay for the replacement. I can't get over how much plastic cost these days:)

As for Rapid Hitch products, they are the best! I needed the upgrade of the 2 5/16" ball for my Rapid Hitch and it is great.
I ordered the 2-5/16 and 2" ball and couldn't believe how fast it arrived. It was exactly what was advertised on the site and works perfect. Overall I'm very impressed with my entire set-up. I've never seen an adjustable hitch receiver quite like it. The pieces are cast to shape so there are no welds and the aluminum is very heavy duty structural aluminum. Besides that, although I'm not concerned with the appearance of the receiver, I've had a lot of compliments.
Bought to change out my greasless multi-ball on the rapid hitch. The swap was easy! I needed more capacity and this gets me to 10,000 GVW.
I started with the grease less unit but after I replaced the caps 2 different time I had to do something else so I went with the chrome plated steel and won't have to loss another cap again!
