Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Hubs matched to my original Dexter hubs. The prices was more than 50% less than Dexter axles; well worth the savings.
Bearings came installed; made installation a breeze. Slide them on and put on retaining washer, nut and retaining bracket.
I’d buy them again (today) will re-evaluate in a year.

by:

This is the trailer I built using your spindles and electric brakes.
It towed beautifully from Texas to Kansas City and back for the World of Wheels.

by:

Easily installed... Pre-greased bearing... Should have come with new axel nut, cotter key and bearing washer, but didn't.. Used old ones...

Thank you for reaching out. I have sent this to our customer service team and they will be in touch about the missing pieces.

Purchased a used 2016 Keystone Hideout Trailer and wanted to be sure it was safe going down the road. These four assemblies were clean, packaged well and fit as expected. We will be headed out to campsite next month and will update this review ONLY if their is a discrepancy, otherwise, we are very satisfied with our etrailer purchase.

by:

Part are great. Shipping was quick and communication was great. No issues with the transaction. Minus one start for less than adequate packaging for transport. I’ve had two orders. The hub that came with other items was in a box in a box. The other items were just loose in the box without protection. No damage noted, but the potential is there depending on the handling practice. Hub that cam skin was in its own box. Appreciate the reduced number of boxes, but this wasn’t sufficient. No damage to the part, but the outside of the.hub poked through the box, the plastic was pulled out and shredded and the hi. Protective cap was damaged.

by:

Pleased with the quality of these hub/drum assemblies. Bearings were nicely pre-greased. Kit comes with solid bearing hub covers and bearing buddy types with removable rubber grease plugs...your choice.

by:

One of the lug nuts was damaged and could not be used. I would like a cotter pin and a flat washer included in this assembly.

by:

I think your a great company but my hub drum assembly was a little out of round.
This is probably from storage by the manufacturer.

Have great day! Don

by:

Product replaced OEM part exactly. product was fully lubed as advertised. Installation was simple.

by:

I haven't received my leaf springs at the same time. I ordered them within minutes of each other. So I have to wait until next week now. Once I get things together I can make an accurate assessment. Probably the only gripe of mine is that I have to wait now. Thanks for the follow up.

by:

Very good quality and easy to install I highly recommend this company for all your trailer needs

by:

I ordered the hub and idler set, my trailer came with 15x5 hubs and I ordered 15x4.5 rims. Since they wouldn't return my rims I ordered the correct hubs from etrailer. Got my box only had one seal slightly damaged. Installing was a breeze and happy with my purchase... Website was very user friendly as my first plan was to do a 6lug but I talked myself out of it. Thanks etrailer good job, nice company to deal with.

by:

Fast service. Help us work through getting good replacement parts. Thank you.

by:

I ordered an easy grease trailer hub and drum assembly to replace the one on my 14 foot cargo trailer which was damaged by a defective magnet. The one I ordered fit perfectly. Since it came pre-greased, it saved quite a bit of time because I did not have to pack the bearings and press in the seal.

drums and brakes went together perfectly. Amy J was a big help.

by:

This is my second order. I ordered for the rear axle first. The parts looked good. So ordered for the other axle. The seals are robust and double seal design. But the bearing are China bearings. Would have liked to seen timkin or the like but are serviceable. The break kit fit well and looks good. We will see how they do on my 2500 mile round trip thru the mountains with a small truck loaded on it. The operators both times were very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Keep up the good work and I'll keep buying!

Put about 3000 miles with zero issues. They performed better than expected. I have ordered several items since then and the operators are all knowledgeable and all ways willing to do what they can to ensure a proper order and that Im satisfied with my order

by:

Received the hubs very quickly. They were well greesed and ready to go. They look well machined. I did have one lug nut that had something wrong with the threads. I might could have used it, but since it would not thread on by hand I did not want to try it since it might damage the stud. I went on line and did a chat with etrailer. Thier customer service is top rated. They shipped me out another lug nut. This is why I do business with etrailer. They understand the needs of the customer and understand the products they sell.

I installed the hubs this weekend and took the trailer for a test pull. Needed to adjust the brakes up a little, but all was well.

by:

13,737 miles to Fairbanks from Ft. Myers and bank, still going good.

by:

Service was great and the shipping was fast. As always etrailer out performs its competitors.

by:

Perfect fit for the corresponding e-trailer brake assembly. Even comes with lug nuts, but I didn’t use them because they are a size up from whats on the rest of my trailer wheels. Same thread, just different lug wrench size. Personally, e-trailer, I’d forgo including the lug nuts and instead, include the mounting hardware with your e-trailer brake assemblies.

Great product

  • Parts Needed to Add Brakes to 3,500 lb Trailer Axle
First you'd want a hub to add brakes to your cargo trailer that has 3,500 lb axles. For that the most common solution is the hub part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. This fits 3,500 EZ lube spindles and has the very common 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern for wheel attachment. If instead you have a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern you'd want the part # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K. Then for brake assemblies you'd want the self adjusting assembly kit part numbers # AKEBRK-35-SA. Then for a brake mounting flange you'd...

  • Reducing Overall Trailer Weight By Replacing Beam Axle with Timbren Axle-Less Suspension
A standard beam axle made for a leaf spring suspension will vary only slightly more in its actual weight, depending on its carrying capacity, than two Timbren axle-less systems of different capacities. This is because as weight ratings increase a beam axle tends to have a larger diameter and more steel, which makes it heavier. With Timbren kits there will be a bit less of a weight difference. For instance, Timbren 3500-lb-rated kit # ASR35HDS02 has a shipping weight of 152-lbs, while their...

For your tandem axle 2016 C and M trailer, the 3,500 lb axles make it easy to add electric brakes. You will need to use 10 inch assemblies. My recommendation is the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA for each axle. These assemblies will work well for your axles and are self adjusting.
