Great Product! Hasn't let us down yet.

by:

great product

by:

The plastic plugs don’t hold up very well in the bed of the truck to plug in the 5th wheel trailer in nothing can beat the metal ones

by:

Bought this after the cover on my plastic one broke in half so it would not hold the plug in. (It was -20° though). Solids well made piece, nothing here will break at -20°. Etrailer was the only place I could find one that is all metal. Placed the order and had it in hand in 3 days. Never let down by Etrailer.

After 1 year its holding up great. No signs of rust either, Minnesota loves salting the h*ll out of the roads in the winter. I did give the inside contacts a good coat of dielectric grease And they are looking god too. Great product.

by:

good product made of steel not plastic, made in tiawan ,better than china, would like one made in USA. maybe etrailer can find more parts made in USA i would be willing to pay more.its time to take back our country, the USA.

Thanks for the feedback, happy to hear you are pleased with your vehicle connection. If you need the trailer plug, that is available as Part # PK12702. It is linked above as a related part.

by:

like the flush mount and compact of socket, and preferred the metal case over plastic one.

by:

Easy to install and works great. Can always rely on etrailer for great parts, fast shipping, and the best price around.

Everything seems to be working well.

by:

Going to rewire my pickup truck trailer circuit , this is last piece I needed. This is high quality plug for my r v . Thanks

by:

Product is much better than the plastic version. The receptacle has a very strong spring on the lid and a hook to lock the trailer plug into it.
The plug is galvanized and not stainless how ever, so it will corrode and rust in the Wisconsin rust belt eventually. After 1 year how ever it is fine.
I bought the metal version for out custom work trucks that I build for our company. The protective lids on the plastic ones were getting broken. The metal plug is more durable and has solved that issue.

by:

Heavy duty metal not plastic

by:

Still very happy with this unit I sold that truck But remove the trailer plug from It & reinstalled it on my replacement truck & still use it,
this was worth the effort.

by:

I am very grateful to etrailer for always providing excellent service. Orders are received in a timely and accurate fashion. The quality of their products is superb. All items ordered function as described with no malfunctions. The trailer and vehicle wiring connectors I have ordered were a great replacement for old existing equipment that was constantly failing.
Very professional company. Very high quality products. I look forward to continued business with them.

by:

High quality that should last a long time! My only complaint was that the pin that orients the inner part was hard to get in place.

by:

Good quality, excellent product.
The
only thing they missed IMHO is to put a rubber gasket to the cap.

by:

JENA D i've used these plug ins for my shear that attaches to my skid loader. Were in the iron and steel business, my wife irons and i steel. I've used these plug ins for about 19 years now and have had real good luck with them.YOU got the order right and they arrived on time who do i talk to about getting YOU a raise. Thanks again Donnie

by:

Very heavy duty connector, metal body, brass terminals, metal locking pin. We use them for construction work all day long. They will take the abuse the workers put them through.

by:

After being unhappy with plastic connectors I picked one of these up and it seems to fix all my problems with covers breaking off.

by:

Everything arrived as expected and all fit perfectly!! This is not my first purchase from etrailer, and as before, shipping was timely and all components were as they advertised them to be. I will not hesitate to order again when I need something they offer.

by:

Works great, Very easy to install. The rubber plug in the back is the only difficult part to deal with. I Place a dab of silicone around it to make a better water proof fit.

by:

great product super durable can't go by the colors on the back of the connector though

by:

Good quality product. MUCH BETTER THAN THE BLACK PLASTIC VERSION of this item.
I mounted this under the back bumper of my SUV so that it is inconspicuous from view.

by:

Great product that is still in great shape despite riding underneath my off road vehicle on some seriously tough trails throughout the 4 Corners.

by:

Great RV receptacle. I prefer metal housings like this as opposed to plastics that can break at low temps. They shipped promptly as promised. Thanks eTrailer!

by:

Used in mixed fleet applications. Reliable quality with easy installation. Metal construction seems to provide more service life.

by:

This looks pretty good, again I haven't had a chance to install it yet, but I'm sure it'll work fine. Maybe I'll report back once I have it installed and working.

Worked perfectly! The one on our 23 year old rig was looking a bit worn so it made sense to replace it as this was our first attempt at towing. Again, good quality and so far its still working!

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring When Lights All Go Out When Brakes Are Applied
It sounds like the ground wire may be the culprit and causing the issues you are having. Check the ground wire to make sure it is securely attached to a clean metal surface. Also make sure it did not get pulled out of the trailer connector when you made the sharp turn. If the ground checks out okay, you may want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to check out the pins on the vehicle side trailer connector by function. Have someone sit in the cab of the truck and run through...

  • No Power To 12 Volt Pin On 7-Way Of a GM Truck
I did not see where you listed the year, make, and model of your tow vehicle which I would need in order to confirm the fuse location (if present) but these are almost always listed in the owner's manual so that is where I recommend that you look. If you already checked the M8 stud on the fuse box then you best option is to just run a new 12 volt power wire of your own with part # RM-156-75.

I don't know which truck or trailer isn't wired standard, but it sounds like with multiple trailers working on your vehicle that your friend's truck and trailer are wired wrong, but to fit each other. I've attached a picture of what each of the 7 pins are set to function when set up with the standard configuration. I've also attached an article on trailer wiring to help. • How to Test to Determine Correct Wiring for 7-Way Vehicle Socket
There are three common ways a 7-way trailer connector can be wired; these depend on the type of application. For the most common, the RV standard, the function carried on each of the pins is shown in the photo I linked for you. This wiring scheme and the two others are all shown in the linked article on trailer wiring. Since you have had a fuse blow it does sound like one or more of the circuits on your truck has been overloaded by the power draw from the trailer lights. Keep in mind...

I am not sure if you need the replacement connector for the vehicle side of your 1995 Ford F-150 or if you need the trailer connector that would plug into the F-150, so I will give you some options for both of them. You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to check the wires by function when installing a connector. If the connector you need is on the vehicle side and you determine it is a 6-way, I recommend part # PK12720. This is a plastic 6-pole round pin socket that would be...

  • Does the Ground Need To Be Re-Done When Installing a New Trailer Connector
If you are using a trailer connector that hardwires to a set of blunt cut wires like the Pollak Metal 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Socket part # PK12703 then I recommend checking the ground terminal screw on the connector but if this is tight then I recommend just running a new ground wire to a bare metal surface on the frame to see if that fixes your issue. These trailer connectors don't ground though the mounting hardware if that is what you are asking.

There would not be any additional fuses for the brake lights and turn signals for the trailer wiring on your 2006 GMC Sierra. There may be relays related to the tow package that could be bad if the fuses were blown. I would check your owners manual or your fuse boxes to look for any relays related to the tow package and replace them as well. • Why Would Interior Light Circuit Not Be Active on Enclosed Trailer
Check the 12 volt accessory circuit on the 7-way of your truck. This is the pin in the 1:00 position. It carries the 12 volt power circuit used for interior lights and isn't always active on trucks so it is most likely the problem. If needed you may need to run a 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 up to the battery of your truck through a circuit breaker like part # 9510.
