2016 Silverado 2500HD OEM Brake Controller Not Working
Question:
The brakes on my trailer suddenly stopped working. Being pulled with a 2016 Silverado 2500 HD with an integrated brake controller. Have tested and have no brake power at truck trailer outlet. What do I look for now?

OEM brake controllers differ from aftermarket controllers in that in addition to getting input from the stop lamp circuit, they also get inputs from the vehicle's PCM, so they're more sophisticated than an aftermarket brake controller which is what we deal with here at etrailer.com.
Other than making sure the fuse in position # 1 in the engine compartment fuse box isn't blown, you'll need to have the dealer or other qualified technician look at the controller and troubleshoot it.
I can tell you that GM, Ford and Mopar OEM brake controllers have been known to be troublesome. It's very common for folks to simply bypass the OEM brake controller and replace it with an aftermarket model such as the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty, part # RED24FR.
The Tow-Pro Liberty is a remote-style brake controller. The controller itself mounts under the dash where it's out of sight and out of the way. The controller is operated by a control knob that can be mounted anywhere within the driver's reach. An unused switch knockout is a great place to install the knob, but if one isn't available, a mounting bezel is available as part # 331-TPSI-001. You'll also need a # 331-TPH-010 wiring harness.
To install the controller, the harness would plug in under the dash, as shown in the linked video. You'll need to bypass the brake output circuit by running a length of # 10-1-1 from the blue wire in the # 331-TPH-010 harness to the 7-way trailer connector at the rear of the truck as outlined in the help article I'll link for you.
