Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Westlake Standard Tread Close-Up

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

I am a great fan of etrailer, but these tires are very poor. I am very diligent about tire pressures and lug nut torque and check both before every trip or after an overnight stop. Tires are inflated per the manufacturers specification. The trailer had these as OEM equipment, and this tire was a replacement for one of them. The trailer is 24' and was carrying my Mini track car. Speed was around 70mph as a maximum. We weighed it and it was certainly no where near the weight limit for the trailer or the tires. Despite all of that, three of these tires delaminated and exploded on my ATC trailer in the space of two trips over about 6 months. They were costly to replace and did significant damage to my wheel wells and steps, which added to the expense. I would not recommend buying these tires.

This is the second tire I bought for my RV. The product

The tires I purchased have been working fantastic. I especially like them that they dont have little sipes in the tires which allows them to get rid of the rocks and dont get stuck in the tread. Wear is also perfect. Would recommend this tire to anyone that needs them.

Still a wonderful set of tires. I will definitely reorder when these get to that worn out period.

I give a 5 star rating to etrailer as they never disappoint. I'm hoping these 4 tires that go on my camper will do the same. I was pleased them as the original camper tire.

In the past year we have traveled from Virginia to Nova Scotia and back. And also from Virginia to Florida and back. The tires still look brand new. Thus, very pleased!

by:

When a nail punctured the sidewall of my trailer tire I found myself in need of a quick replacement. With no local business able to provide an exact replacement, a web search quickly yielded information about etrailer and their quality of service. After ordering, I had the tire in a very short time and I’m back on the road! Great support, and always kept informed that my order had been placed, shipped, and delivered. Can’t ask for much more than that.

I checked with the “Big Tire Companies such as Les Schwab, and Americas Tires and I had no luck. They said that they couldn’t get the same tire that I needed. I called e trailer and they knew exactly what I needed. I paid for it and a couple of days later I received exactly what I needed. Super People,Super Store,
Super Service. I have will be back for more items.

by:

Very good service.

by:

Showed up fast! Days earlier than expected. Definitely the turn-to company for trailer tires

by:

I give one star because I can't give 0!
I've
had nothing but trouble. Two of four of these tires have delaminated causing over five thousand dollars in damages to my 2019 Grand Design 21g. I have used a tire pressure monitoring system since day one. Always running the recommended 80 psi cold. I removed all of these tires "China Bombs " and threw them away. I replaced them with Goodyear Endurance. I'm just one of many victims of these tires. Do your homework! You will find many people with the same problems. My tires had less than 9000 miles when they just exploded. I am a very careful driver and there is nothing I could have done to contribute to the tire failures. Note the two failures were more than a month apart. On opposite sides of the camper.

by:

In stock, exact match for my Aluma trailer and terrific customer service

by:

Made in China has a connotation of poor quality at best, most of the time junk.
These Westlake tires are made in China however to the contrary they are top-quality.
Don’t hesitate in using these as replacement!
Plus buy them from etrailer.com, for first class service, call and asked for Chris W!!

Fast delivery and the exact part I orde red.

by:

Westlake trailer tires have always given me good service and etrailer was fast and received the right tire in good shape

by:

Unfortunately we had 2 blowouts with these Westlake tires in August 2021. 1 of them was less that a year old with maybe 1,000 miles on it. After the 2nd blowout which caused significant damage to the travel trailer, we replace all Westlakes with another brand.

by:

purchased with white rims to match....has been a good purchase and received some valued input from e-trailer. (needed better load range tires but needed rims to match my bolt pattern). Tires seem to be of high quality.

by:

I caught a nail in one of my tires close to the outside tread making it necessary to replace the tire. I replaced the bad tire with factory supplied Westlake tire. The original tires have about 3,500 miles on them and are wearing well.

by:

Awesome fast service at a reasonable pr ice

  • Will 225/75-15 Tire Fit on 5 Inch Wide Wheel
It sure will! A 225/75-15 tire will fit on a wheel that's 5, 6, 6-1/2, or 7 inches wide. I've linked to the 225/75-15 load range C, D and E tires we offer.

Best option would be to switch to a radial trailer tire as they tend to wear better and last longer for highway use. Also going up to the nexte size of 225/75-15 would help too. For that the best option would be the Westlake ST225/75R15 Load Range E # LHWL304 which has a capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi and a speed rating of 75 mph. • How to Determine Best Trailer Tires for 2017 Keystone Hideout
The ply rating isn't altogether that important when it comes to ensuring the best tires. The most important things are to ensure you get a tire that is properly rated, which means ensuring that they exceed the GVWR of your 2017 Keystone Hideout, and to inflate the tire to the maximum cold psi. Doing this will give you the best performance, allowing the tire to wear slower. There are a bunch of different models of '17 Keystone Hideout so I was unable to determine the size of your tires...

  • What Is the Mileage Rating for the Westlake Radial Trailer Tires
The Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire part # LHWL304 does not have a tread life mileage rating as the manufacturer does not test for this. That said, none of the other trailer tire manufactures test for this either because trailer tires wear much differently than passenger tires. However, there is still a gauge to estimate life expectancy and that is by the age. Generally speaking, trailer tires can last up to six years if cared for properly which means always inflating to the maxi...

  • Best Replacement ST 225/75R15 Trailer Tires
I recommend looking at the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # LHWL304 as they go above and beyond with their warranty. That kind of warranty tells you that they only expect the best from their tires.

  • Can I Go Down To a Smaller Sized Trailer Tire?
The simple answer to this question is yes; you will be able to go down to a 205/75R15 tire, provided that you can find a tire with the same load rating as your current tires and aren't worried about having slightly less ground clearance on your trailer. The main issue you'll need to consider is if you have a Load Range E tire like the # LHWL304 , you're not going to find a 205/75R15 tire that has the same "E" load rating. You'll want to check the trailer information plate/sticker which...

  • How Often Should Trailer Tires Be Replaced?
Your friends are pretty close. We suggest replacing tires every 3-6 years or every 10K-12K miles, which ever comes first. Most trailer tires do not get replaced due to mileage and instead age. If you are using tire guards to protect the tires from UV rays while being stored or storing the tire in a garage it will take a bit longer for dry rot to affect the tire. As soon as you start seeing dry rot you should go ahead and plan on replacing the tire. On the other hand if you do not cover...

Yes, the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # LHWL304 is safe to fill up to 80 psi. We actually recommend sticking with the psi rating on the sidewall of the tire because Westlake has tested the tire for this, including the heat. Some trailer tire manufacturers will have charts that show what the weight rating is at lower pressure ratings but that isn't super common. If you run your tires at a lower psi rating then you'll be using them at an unknown weight rating which can be dangerous.
