Provider Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Provider Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

We are very pleased with the quality of the tires & ordering items from etrailer

by:

I really like these tires. They hold their pressure very well, I have to adjust based on temperature otherwise I don't need to add air often. We've only put around 2000 miles on them thus far, but they look brand new on the tread yet. I use a tire pressure monitor and I notice that they don't seem to have as much of an increase in pressure while driving when compared to the ones I took off, I think this means they run a little cooler.

by:

Mounting went well and they handled well on the road.

by:

Tires were delivered earlier than projected and were a good replacement tire.

by:

I was not aware the original nylon ply tires on my teardrop camping trailer were speed-rated at only 65 mph. Had a blowout. Did research and bought 3 Radial tires from etrailer.com...2 polyester ply with 2 steel belt ply and speed-rated at 81 mph. Radial Trailer-only tires run cooler than rigid wall tires. I had my local Firestone shop mount and balance all 3 tires (single axle and spare.) Smoothed out the tow a lot. Highly recommend etrailer.com. Ask for Ashley E. Very professional and helpful customer service.

by:

Great looking tire and just what I need to replace the worn original tires.

by:

I really like these tires. They ride real good, and my axle on my trailer has slight offset so my tires wear uneven. But these tires ran all last year, and I just rotated them. I should get another year or 2 out of them. I keep them pumped up to 50 lbs like ya'll said, and it works great.

by:

Customer service was knowledgeable and friendly. Tires were received quickly and packaged very well. To date, have had no issues with these tires. Would highly recommend etrailer to anyone contemplating trailer tire purchases.

by:

Great tires, they are holding up really well for my landscaping trailer. Good value to for the tire itself.

by:

Works great for my 19' Jetcraft and single axle trailer
Road ready now

by:

This is the tires I have on my trailer and I hit a piece of scrap metal that cut the tire but it did not blow it went down slower and I could stay in control and get off the road.

by:

As always etrailer comes through! Thanks so much for the prompt shipping and you always have what we need!

by:

Fast delivery and perfect for. Better than OEM tires.

by:

Took forever to deliver

by:

This is a wonderful tire, I highly recommend this brand. I received it quite quickly in the mail

by:

Matched great with a previous tire purc hase.

by:

  • Trailer Tire Recommendation to Replace Size 185/65-14
The closest tire size to what you have now of 185/65-14 would be the tire size 205/75-14 like with the part # TR20514 which has an outer diameter of 26.14 inch and a section width of 8 inches. What you have now is most likely a passenger vehicle tire size which was not designed or rated for use on a trailer.

  • Trailer Tire Recommendation for Size ST205/75-14
For extended highway use I recommend going with a trailer tire with a higher speed rating as that will help prevent heat build/failure. For the size you listed the best option will be the Taskmaster part # TR20514 which is a 205/75R14 that has a speed rating of 81 mph which is much higher than most which are only rated at 65 mph. We do not have any tires in the Load Range of E but these are C and have a capacity of 1,760 lbs at 50 psi.

  • Can Bias Ply Tires ST205/75D14 Be Replaced With Radial Tires on RV Trailer?
For your ST205/75D14 tires, you can absolutely upgrade to radial tires for your RV trailer. Radial tires will be better for highway driving with the cords running at a 90 degree angle to the direction of travel as opposed to the 32 degree angle of bias ply tires. This will help them to run cooler under load and will give you better ground contact for traction, stability, and tread wear. I recommend keeping the same size tire diameter and width, but the load range can also change. ...

  • Possible Causes of Uneven Tire Wear on Triple Axle Boat Trailer
I would have that center torsion axle checked, to make sure nothing's been bent. As for wear on the inside and outside of the tires, you'll want to check the tires for proper inflation. Trailer tires should be kept inflated to the max pressure listed on the tire sidewall. Over inflated tires will show premature wear on the center of the tread, while under inflation will cause wear on the inner and outer edges of the tires. The center axle tires would me more susceptible to wear because...

  • Recommended ST205/75R14 Trailer Tire with Higher Speed Rating
I recommend taking a look at the Taskmaster ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # TR20514. This is a great radial tire with a maximum load of 1,760 pounds at 50 psi. It has an excellent maximum speed of 81 mph and a 6 ply rating and also includes a 2-year limited warranty. Based on my research, the Optimo tire you referenced with the extremely high speed rating is actually a vehicle tire and not designed for use on trailers. Always keep in mind that the best way to extend the life of your...

  • Recommended Size to Replace Old 735-14 Sized Trailer Tires
It sounds like you have some really old tires on your trailer. Tire sizing, like 735-14, was used mostly in the late 60's and early 70's. The closest size trailer tire we carry to that is 205/75-14. Compared to your tire it's about a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wider but about an inch smaller in diameter. You just need to make sure there's at least an inch or two between the tire's sidewall and any part of the trailer to handle the wider size. I recommend our Taskmaster, part # TR20514....

  • 2019 Rockwood MiniLite 2104s Tire Replacement Recommendation
Since we know your 2019 Rockwood MiniLite 2104S has the tire size of ST205/75R14 the tire I would recommend with a higher speed rating is the Provider Radial Trailer tire part # TR20514 which has an 81 mph speed rating and an automotive style tread pattern for excellent traction. If you can get me the diameter of your axles or your axle's capacities I can see if there's any suspension enhancement that would be worthwhile.

  • Recommended Radial Trailer Tire to Replace F78-14
Yes, the correct metric size for the F78-14 tire size is an ST205/75-14 tire size. The ST205/75D14 is a bias tire and not a radial. For a radial, I recommend the Provider ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TR20514. I've attached a video review to assist.

The Kenda # AM1ST86 ST205/75-14 load range D tire you mentioned is rated for a maximum of 65 mph. If you're looking for a higher speed rating, and a C load range tire (1760 lb/tire) would work for you, I'd recommend the Taskmaster # TR20514 radial which has an 81 mph speed rating. If you absolutely needed a D rated tire, you could go with a 215/75-14 radial tire that's only about an inch wider and 1/2 an inch taller like the Taskmaster # TTWTRTM2157514D which also has an 81 mph rating. • Will 205/75-14 Tire Fit a 15 Inch Wheel
The # AM34FR is a 15-inch wheel, so a 14-inch tire like a 205/75R14 wouldn't work, but if you like that style of wheel, we have options for you. You'll need to use a 205/75-15 tire like the Taskmaster Provider 205/75-15, part # TTWTRTM2057515C. Or, if you want to stay with a 14-inch tire, you can use the # AM20377 14-inch directional wheel in silver powder coat (not available in chrome) along with a 205/45-14 tire like the Taskmaster Provider # TR20514.

  • How is Total Trailer Tire Capacity Determined for a Trailer with 2 Axles
You are correct. To determine the tire capacity that a trailer has you would need to add up the capacity listed for each of the tires. So if you have a 3,000 lb total weight trailer you would need each tire to have at least a 750 lb capacity. For your tire size that wouldn't be a problem at all. For example the part # TR20514 has a capacity of 1,760 lbs at 50 psi so on a tandem axle trailer you would end up with 7,040 lbs of tire capacity. This tire is unique in that it has a speed rating...

  • Should Trailer Tires be Inflated to Max PSI Listed on Sidewall
Trailer tires should always be inflated to their max psi as listed on the tire's sidewall, regardless of the trailer's weight. The max psi on a trailer tire is needed for the tire to safely support its listed capacity, which means under-inflating a trailer tire will essentially reduce its capacity to an unknown number. Doing this can lead to you overloading the tires with the weight of your trailer which can cause tire failure. You will need to always follow the max 50 psi listed for your...

  • What is the Difference Between Bias Tires and Radial Tires
When you are comparing a Bias tire, like part # AM3S450, and a Radial tire, like part # TR20514, the deciding factor on which one to use really comes down to the trailer that the tire will be on and what the trailer is used for. You are right that the Bias tires do have a stiffer sidewall, but that doesn't mean that they are stronger. The strength of a tire comes from the Load Range that it has. The stiffness of the Bias tire makes it better suited for off-road applications like farming....

  • Tire Recommendations for 205/75 R14 Tires for 2006 Rockwood Roo
First off I recommend replacing your axle in the long run. Even though it may be less expensive to keep replacing tires it's not certainly safe to be towing a trailer with a bent axle. It also is going to be a lot less hassle with a new axle so you don't keep replacing tires all of the time. With that being said, I recommend the Taskmaster # TR20514 for a good replacement tire. It's a 25/75R14 like you have now and is rated for 1,760 pounds at 50 psi. It also has an 81 mph speed rating...

If you wanted to go with something similar you could get something like this ST185/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire # AM3S334 as long as your bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2. If you're swapping both of them out I do not see an issue with swapping for a radial tire like # TR20514.
