Provider Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Provider Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

I purchased these tires for my tandem axle boat trailer. It's difficult to find this size of tire in a load range D so I was happy to find them on etrailer. I have 500 miles on the new tires and they have performed well with no issues.

The folks at etrailer have been great to work with. I ordered 5 tires and only 4 of them showed up initially due to an issue with shipping. etrailer rectified the issue and sent me the fifth tire, which just arrived. I would definitely purchase from etrailer again in the future. Thanks.

Could not find a production date on tire. Tread depth was a little less than what I expected. Just installed so no experience yet with driving on tires.

Really great tires! took the sway out of the trailer when towing. Tire wear after a year is minimal. Will buy them again when these wear out.

by:

I'm happy with the service and speed of delivery on my tires. I did my homework and these tires checked all of the boxes. My only disappointment, and the reason for the 3 star review, these tires have a production date code from early in 2021. This makes them 3 years old before I've even had a chance to put any miles on them. Everyone knows that trailer tires age out before they wear out. I will now only have 4 years of service out of these tires instead of 7. This is very disappointing as these are far from the cheapest tires on the market.

by:

Needed a spare tire and rim for our camper. Local trailer dealer recommended Etrailer. Ordered on Friday and delivered on Tuesday with the weekend being Easter. Haven’t mounted them yet but looks perfect.

by:

Only site I could find a decent price on load range D 14 inch tires.

by:

Jill was very helpful with correcting a mistake I had made with my order. My order arrived as scheduled and is already in use on my trailer. Thanks eTrailer!

by:

Have yet to put any significant miles on them, but overall am very pleased with my purchase. They are a very sturdy, well made tire with a great tread pattern. Had no issue mounting them on my trailers current rims, even though the last set of tires were 205's. Looking forward to many happy and incident free miles with these.

by:

Just what I was looking for. I needed a spare tire for my travel trailer and found it at.E-Trailer. The only thing is I had to have it mounted to the rim and balanced. My suggestion would be that they come already complete to install on your application. Otherwise, very satisfied with my purchase.

by:

Tires are old!--one was 3 years old, the other was 2, for an application where tire age out before wearing out it would be nice start with a fresher tire

You are right! I will have our customer service team reach out to you about this. They will get you taken care of!

by:

It's been a year since I purchased these tires and all is well! We've driven from New York to Arizona and back without issue. I've also installed a tire pressure monitoring system for them. They seem to maintain pressure well after heating up to highway speeds. I would purchase them again!

by:

Impressed with speedy delivery. My bad for not inquiring about manufacturing date, which is 2 and half years out, somewhat problematic on infrequently used camper. Otherwise, Daniel was extremely helpful in our search for somewhat difficult to find 14 inch load rated D trailer tires. Will definitely deal with etrailer for future needs.

by:

I bought four of these Provider ST215/75R14 radial tires for my boat trailer. With an 8 ply rating and a Load Range Rating of D, I feel very confident on the road. The tread design on these tires is also much more impressive than the typical trailer tire tread found on the Carlisle tires that I replaced. Upon delivery, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the tires were boxed individually, protecting them from any abuse on their journey across the country, from the east side of Missouri all the way to California AND they were delivered on time as promised. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase from etrailer.com.

by:

These tires perform well, and I have no worries towing the boat at highway speeds.

by:

China tires and the ones I received had 4321 date code so they are already past half life.

by:

I just replaced my Coker classic whitewall passenger tires with these E rated trailer tires. On the ride home from the tire shop I have already noticed less sway and a more secure feel to the pavement. Trailer tires belong on trailers for safety and to eliminate potential problems.

by:

I just got them mounted and installed.. They were delivered on time and now only time will tell if they are good tires.. Review say they are this is my hope.. I will never buy Goodyear marathon tires again. I rated these 4 star only because I haven't got to used them yet

by:

perfect, great tires and mounted the set on a rims from you also.
will shop with etrailer.com again thanks

by:

Bought these tires on the recommendation of a friend and am not disappointed in the least. They are wearing well have plenty of stopping power even in the rain

Theyre still wearing well Full disclosure they are on a tandem boat trailer so they dont get the high mileage use that an RV would see but the boat is right at 4800lb whenever we leave the driveway whether to local ramps or 329mi to Islamorada

  • Can a 215/75/14 be Mounted on Either a 14 x 5-1/2 Rim or a 14 x 6 Rim
Yes, you should be able to fit your 215/75/14 tire, like the Provider # TTWTRTM2157514D on either a 14" x 5-1/2" wheel, like part # AM20353, or a 14" x 6" wheel, like part # AM20354. Since these are common 14" wheel widths I would be surprised if your tire wasn't compatible. If you are still unsure you can check with the manufacturer. If it is a tire that we carry just let me know what you have and I can confirm for you.

  • Recommended Replacement for H78-14 Tires on Boat Trailer
We have the exact tires that you need to replace your old dry-rotted tires, but to answer your last question, the number of axles (and therefore the number of tires) does play into load rating. Each tire has its own rating, and the way it works is the total capacity is the combined total of the capacity for each tire - so for a tandem axle trailer, you simple combine the load capacity of all four tires to get their total weight capacity. The correct replacement size for H78-14 tires is...

So the tires that are on your trailer are designed for passenger vehicle use which is why you probably noticed we don't have the size that's on the trailer. I would have to recommend you replace them with a tire rated for trailer use like with the part # TTWTRTM2157514D. For a wheel and tire in this size with your bolt pattern you'd want the part # AM32181.

  • Difference Between Taskmaster ST215/75R14 and Kenda ST205/75R14
The biggest difference would be the size as the Taskmaster is slightly larger in diameter and width. I would go with the Taskmaster part # TTWTRTM2157514D though as it's going to have a higher capacity and speed rating at 81 mph compared to the Kenda which would only be rated for 65 mph.

  • Trailer Tire Recommendation for Replacing ST215/75R14
Going with trailer tires with higher speed ratings will certainly help for long distances as they will withstand heat better at highway speeds. Typically the other things that kill trailer tires are under-inflation and overloading. Keep the tires inflated to their max PSI ratings at all times and that will help considerably. For your tire size the part # TTWTRTM2157514D would be a great option. It has a 2,200-lb max load at 65 psi capacity and a speed rating of 81 mph.

I would love to help but I am not sure I have enough information to accurately answer your question. In order to use 215/75-14 tires on your tow dolly you will need to make sure you have the proper clearance. If you use the same size that the trailer came with which is what I recommend then you won't have this issue. The tires also need to have the proper weight rating and be rated for use on a trailer (ST). If you are looking for 215/75-14 tires then I recommend the Provider ST215/75R14...

  • Difference Between D and R 215/75-14 Tire Sizes
The D stands for "Bias" while the R stands for "Radial". Bias tires have a stronger sidewall and are usually used for off-road applications like agricultural trailers (although they can be used for highway-type trailers) while Radial tires have a little more flex in the sidewalls which helps keep them cooler at higher speeds so they are more ideal for highway usage. It's always a good idea to use the same ply-type on the trailer since their sidewalls have different amounts of flex as you've...

I recommend pairing the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20353 with the Provider ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # TTWTRTM2157514D for your application so you get the standard 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and a 2,200 lbs at 65 psi load rating. • Taskmaster Trailer Tire Recommendation to Replace ST205/75R14
The difference between the two tire sizes would be so small that you would have no problem going to a ST215/75-14. Plus, the Taskmaster tires are great since they have the higher speed ratings so I recommend them any chance I get. For a Load Range D tire in that size you would want the part # TTWTRTM2157514D which has a capacity of 2,200 lbs at 65 psi.

Determining the weight capacity for a custom built trailer is a bit hard to do, but the general guide line is that the lowest rated component in the system will be the overall capacity. What is odd is that the tag reads GVWR 3,000 lbs which would normally indicate that the total the trailer can weigh with cargo is 3,000 lbs. This seems much less than the axle capacities which have 3,500 lbs per axle. 10 inch drums are used almost exclusively on 3,500 lb axles as well. So with all of the...
