Provider Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Provider Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

I have replaced the original tires on the last two trailers we have had because the Provider Trailer tires have been very dependable in all weather and roads. The biggest test we gave them is our trip to Alaska. From GA. to the Arctic Circle and back via the I-10 southern route. Five months and over 15,000 miles without ANY tire problems. I am putting a link to part of the trip through the Yukon on the Alaska Highway. Everyone said we would have tire and windshield issues but not one. I might add the (Load Range D is the best to use)The trailer is a 32' Jayco Whitehawk, maxed at 8,000lbs

Tires and service was excellent

by:

Replaced 4 tires on a boat trailer (3200lbs gross weight) and so far so good no problems .Traveled to Colorado river on first trip in 110 degree weather last summer they handled great on the road. At this time I’ve only put on approximately 3000 miles they look new and have worn evenly.

Customer service was great once again with Etrailer. There were some issues upon order placement of finding the requested quantity of tires. Etrailer reps George and James did a great job of bringing this to my attention and offering other options as well as letting me know the expected lead time to receive the quantity requested of brand requested. Stuck with this as lead time was only a few more weeks and they actually came in after only one week. The communication was very good and much appreciated. Have not actually had a chance to inspect the tires but will follow up with another review upon doing so. Thanks guys!

by:

Ordered trailer tires for my inboard boat. They arrived on time and I put them to good use traveling from South Carolina to Florida. Performed better than expected great price, super service, thanks so much.

by:

Haven’t had these tires very long, but they look really good and seem to work well at hwy speed in the rain. These are a great buy for any trailer wether it be a boat, landscape, or just everyday hauling trailer. Thanks etrailer.com.

by:

I cannot write a product review as the tires I ordered are still in the box, but I can write on the order experience. I have ordered before from Etrailer and have had excellent experience in the order process, shipping and pricing. Very streamlined and efficient method of ordering. Another item that impressed me was the video that explained in detail everything about the tires I ordered. It answered a lot of questions I had about the tires. The price was the best I could find with the free shipping.

Receive tires in three days was which was extremely good. great place to do business with, tires look good ,took a lot of weight on one rim to balance ,but the tires are on the trailer now but haven't put them on the highway yet so we'll have to wait and see how they perform

by:

I ordered four tires and they arrived in two days. Very happy with that. But, I was very disappointed to find out all four tires were almost four years old (all had DOT days from 2012). Shame on you etrailer.

  • Are Trailer Tires that are 7 Years Old and Inflated to Half Max Pressure Rating Safe to Use
We don't recommend using trailer tires that are over 6 years old as they are much prone to failure. The tread may look fine but the tire overall is most likely dry rotting and beginning to lose it's integrity. Also, we have to recommend you run the tires at max tire pressure at all times. Failure to do so will cause heat to build up due to too much sidewall flex/heat which will also cause premature failure. Basically running a 6 year old trailer tire at half the max pressure rating is a...

  • Replacement Tires for Rockwood Mini Lite 2503S with Castle Rock ST205/75R14
The Provider ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TTWTR21514 is my recommendation for your Rockwood Mini Lite 2503S. This tire is rated for 1,870 lbs at 50 psi and speeds up to 81 mph. This tire has automotive grade sipes to channel water away to improve traction. If you want tires made by the same manufacturer as your Castle Rock tires, I recommend the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # 274-000012 which are rated for speeds up to 75 mph and weights...

  • Recommended Replacement Tires for Boat Trailer with P215/70R14 Tires
Your boat trailer tires should be replaced as the P in front of the number stands for "passenger" meaning they are not intended for trailer use but rather to be used on a car. The ST on the tires you see from us are "special trailer" tires intended for use on trailers only. I've attached an article to assist. For your 14 inch wheels, I recommend the Taskmaster ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TR20514 which is rated for 1,760 lbs at 50 psi and max speeds of 81 mph. This...

  • Replacement Spare Tire/Wheel for 1965 Kit Companion Camper Trailer
You will want to be sure to use a special trailer (ST) tire for your spare on your 1965 Kit Companion camper trailer. Its important that the tires on the trailer match each other in size and load range. Trailer tires are made specially to withstand the vertical load from a trailer and are made differently from passenger vehicle tires. Since you need a tire and wheel you'll want to match up the wheel bolt pattern to your hubs to ensure they fit together. I have linked an article to help...

  • Can Trailer Tires Have Different Load Ranges If They Are the Same Size
You are going to want to have the same tires with an equal load range on both sides of your trailer, even if they are the same size. The reason for this is the different pressures that each tire has means the tires will not wear evenly and this will likely cause problems not only with how the trailer rides but also excessive heat on one of the tires. For example, the Provider ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TTWTR21514 has a 1,870 lb capacity at 50 psi while the Provider...

  • Is Adding Larger Tires A Good Way To Lift My Forest River Camper with Tandem Axles?
Adding slightly larger tires than your current ST205x75xR14 might help a little bit; but the Provider ST215/75R14 # TTWTR21514 tires that you were looking at are only going to raise your trailer about 6/10", so I'm not sure those are going to be the best way to go. With all that being said, I don't think you're going...

  • Recommend Trailer Tire Size to Replace P185/70r-14
The P185/70R-14 is an automotive, not a trailer tire. We recommend using ST (special trailer) rated tires on a trailer because of their thicker sidewalls that are better suited to the vertical load applied to the tire by the trailer weight. The closest applicable trailer tire size would be a ST205/75R-14 tire. The tire section width is around 8-1/2 inches, with a diameter of about 26-1/2 inches. This is about 1 inch wider and 3 inches larger in diameter than your existing tires. This will...

The correct tire pressure for a trailer tire will be indicated on the tire sidewall. Trailer tires should always be inflated to the full cold psi pressure noted on the tire. They should never be run under- or over-inflated since this can reduce their load capacity and lead to overheating. Tires will vary in their required pressure based on their rated load range. This is a premium radial trailer tire that has a 1,870 pound maximum load at 50 psi. The tire meets DOT specifications, exceeds FMVSS and comes with a 2-year limited warranty. • What Tire Pressure Should Trailer Tires be Inflated to
Yes, you will always want to have your tire pressure inflated to the max rating that is listed on it's sidewall. ST trailer tires are designed to be run at their max PSI at all times. Failure to do this will reduce the overall capacity of the tire and can cause excess heat build up. I attached a help article on trailer tires for you to check out as well.

A full dynamic balance that is always required for a passenger car's tire is not essential for a trailer tire. It would clearly not be a bad thing either. The combination wheel/tire products we sell come pre-mounted from the supplier with the tire's high spot matched to the rim's low spot; this is not the same as a true dynamic balance but it is fine for a trailer tire.
