Smooth Hookup with Stainless Steel Arms

Hooking up Roadmaster Black Hawk 2

The BlackHawk 2 is designed to make hooking up your toad (towed vehicle) a smooth and easy process. The telescoping arms are able to extend to the needed length and angle to reach the base plate without the need for your vehicle to be perfectly level or in the exact right spot behind your RV. The inner arms are stainless steel and will slide in and out smoothly. Supremely corrosion resistant, they'll stay rust-free and functional for the life of the tow bar.

Slide the tow bar into your hitch and pin it in place. Get the arms connected to the base plate one at a time. Once you're all hooked up, slowly pull forward and the self-aligning arms will fully extend and lock into the towing position. Double check that the arms are properly latched and you'll be ready to hit the road!

Extra-Long Arms Get You Around Tight Turns

The BlackHawk's arms are longer than average, giving you an above-average turning radius. You're going to be able to get around obstacles and make sharp turns with no worry of clipping the corner of your RV. Maneuver through gas stations and the campsite no problem.

Non-Binding for Easy Disconnect

Uneven ground and sharp angles can put the arms of the tow bar in a bind and make them stiff and immoveable. Once you get to your destination, the last thing you need is to spend several minutes wrestling, yanking, and kicking at them to get your car disconnected.

Freedom Latch

Instead, get out of a bind in one easy step. Simply flip the latch on the arm of the BlackHawk 2 to disengage the internal latch. This releases the pent-up pressure so you can unhook and get on with your adventure.

Organized Setup with Cable Guides

Roadmaster Black Hawk 2 Cable Guides

The BlackHawk 2 comes with cable guides built into the arms, which offer a great way to keep your setup organized. By threading your safety cables and power cord (both sold separately) through the guides, you'll keep them from dragging on the ground and getting damaged. It's also a great way to keep all your gear together. You won't need to find a separate place to store your cables; you can keep them right there where you need them, ready for the next time you flat tow.

Engineered for Excellence

FEA test

The BlackHawk 2 All-Terrain is engineered to be as tough and durable as possible. Throughout the design process, rigorous physical and computerized testing is done, including Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA). Each of these tests displays a 3-dimensional image of the tow bar while it is put under thousands of pounds of pressure. Areas of stress in the tow bar can then be located and studied so that those areas can be strengthened. This process is repeated until any weak spots, particularly those found in load-bearing components, are completely removed. The result is a product that is durable, strong, and safe.

Simple Storage: RV-Mounted Tow Bar

Storage Latch

The BlackHawk 2 folds up to conveniently store on the back of your RV when you're not using it. After disconnecting from your toad, push the arms of the tow bar together so that they are side by side. Push the tow bar up until the holding latch clicks into place. The arms can then swing to the right or to the left, whichever side you want to store it on.

Stored on RV

For added protection from the elements, slip the Roadmaster tow bar cover (RM-055-3 - sold separately) over the BlackHawk 2 when you're not using it.

What You Need to Flat Tow

Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.

To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.

For the RV Between the RV and Towed Car For the Towed Car
Hitch Tow bar Base Plate
Wiring plug Safety cables Braking system
Wiring adapter cord Wiring kit/diodes

The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

Easy to hook up our toad ( Jeep ). I can connect or disconnect in about 2 minutes all while standing. Stays right behind our RV and you only know its back there when you look in the rear view mirror. I would buy this again.

Im glad I got it. We have towed many thousand miles now and easy hook up.

by:

I have been using this to tow my 1997 F250. It tows great and no question, it is beefy enough. I left four stars because you have to spray it with a lubricant almost every time you use it to keep it from binding when you want to disconnect it. It works great as long as it’s lubricated. This is the only tow bar I have used so I am not sure if binding is normal or if this is works better than others. It seems like it it an issue with all tow bars. I am happy with this bar but there is always room for improvement.

by:

Great tow bar system for towing my Toyota Tundra behind my motor coach. Too bad the baseplate I purchased required me to add a 6 inch drop receiver and causes a rub condition on rising/falling surfaces.

by:

Pulled entire length of route 66 and then some. We had absolutely no issues with all of our etrailer equipment. Thanks for all of your help.

by:

Perfect bar to tow my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. My earlier Falcon is great for my lighter Honda CRV. Thus one is robust and works flawlessly for my Silverado. eTrailer came through again as usual.

by:

Fast shipping to be able to make trip after damaging old towbar. Thanks!

Its the best, no problems or concerns. Tow both 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2017 Ford F150 crew cab with it.

by:

I can't believe you don't add the cover for this hitch. Free advertising. You make enough on the price of the hitch. Not to mention every additional item that goes with it.

by:

Used this on an "around the country" RV trip to tow our Suburban after I damaged an older model. It works great and the built-in release handles were a welcome upgrade from the previous hitch I used. We certainly put some miles on this tow bar with no issues and I'm sure will get many more miles and years out of it yet!

by:

Seems like it is built well. Hopefully it will lasts for a long time for what it cost.

I am completely satisfied. Wanted a Blue ox, but I would buy another roadster and recommend one for anyone

by:

Easy to install and easy to use. Being newbies to the motor coach world, this tow bar is made for ease of hookup. It took less than five minutes to unhook and hook up. Love it! We did not use the base plate that came with it but chose to add the direct connect base plate with removable arms (RM-521424-5) This combination made it excellent to use!

Peggy A.

WE have only used the tow bar a couple times but have to say it is REALLY easy to hookup! Takes less than five minutes to get our Jeeep attached. Love it!

by:

Towing a Wrangler 4 door behind my motorhome, have gone 20K miles now and no issues, i am not using the cross bar as my vehicle mount does not require that.
Due to the road dust and everything it gets quite dirty of course. It has been working well along, easy enough to connect.
If you have to disconnect on a hill it gets a bit tricky to unlatch and such, but just takes practice.

Thomas S.

3/25/2022

A year later it is still all good, getting dirty is all. Mechanism and joints still function well.

by:

Excellent product, heavy duty and well built. So well built it has a cross-bar system in it that wasn't required for my recommended base plate. Seems to be a lot of extra money for something that can not be used with the products recommended.

Shayne

6/17/2021

Still works great. Excellent, sturdy product.

by:

This is a wonderful addition to our camping experience! It pulls our Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with no issues whatsoever. It may be overkill for the towed vehicle, but I like a little overkill. It's great!

by:

Not used for towing a Jeep Grand Cherokee or RAM ? 1500 yet, but the towbar is within a half inch of level on both instead of being off by SIX inches.

by:

Roadmaster BlackHawk looks like it is very well made. This is a replacement foe a Roadmaster Sterling that I had for over 10 years. I was going to rebuild it, however after reading different comments that the life of the tow bar is 8 to 10 years, I decided to replace the tow bar instead of rebuilding it. The sterling tow bar was rated at 6k while this new tow bar is rated at 10k. I hope this new tow bar will last another 10 years. Etrailer service was great and fast. Receive the new tow bar in just 2 days. Have not used it yet, but real soon I hope. I will be flat towing a Jeep Wranger or a Ford F-150. I am sure this tow bar can handle these toads. Thanks again etrailer for providing great service at the best cost. I did fine the tow bar at a lower price and they provided their 110% match.

by:

Heavy Duty and just as expected, I have not used it yet as my motorhome has not been delivered. My etrailer representative Joshua was VERY helpful.

I used this tow bar to tow my 2013 Honda CR-V behind my motor home. This is a 10,000 lb bar that I used only because the 6000 lb bar was not available at the time of my need. The bar is very easy to install and hook up. The car does not have to be level or straight with the tow vehicle. Once hooked up a small left right movement of the two vehicles as you start moving locks the tow bar in place. Very easy to use.

John J.

6/12/2017

This hitch is so easy to hook and unhook when I fell ill my wife absolutely had no problem getting the car hooked back up and getting us back on the road.

by:

Had one issue when I got this. One side would not lock in place. E-Trailer gave me the 800 Roadmaster number and Roadmaster told me exactly what needed to be done to resolve the the problem. I tightened the screw on the that side of the bar to length they said (3/4”), the everything has been fine since then. Happy I didn’t have to return for a replacement.

by:

If you are looking for a great tow bar, the BlackHawk 2 for you. I have an older Roadmaster (10) years old and it was still working great but we got a larger tow close to 6k so the 10k looked good.
EZ to hook and EZ to unhook plus I like the Non-Binding.

Floyd H.

2/2/2018

After a year on the road, this has worked well. The Non-Binding has never failed to get me unhooked. Before I unhook I wipe the rods down with cleaner and lube, hope to have this one 10 years.

by:

Great service.

by:

Excellent Product , have owned one before, 3 day delivery,no shipping charge.

by:

The tow bar and shipping are very good. The bar works like it is suppose to, hooks up easy and unhooks easy and pulls my 1/2 ton PU great!! Road Master makes great products

1 year later and the tow bow is still working great !!!

by:

I like this tow bar having replaced it with a lighter version of a Roadmaster falcon all terrain that came with the coach when I bought it. But neither one really releases as well as I wish that they did. There is a learning curve to it I guess but I've been using this for a year now and still have trouble with binding sometimes I have to use a hammer and punch to get it released from my vehicle. Still I do like it it tows my Jeep Grand Cherokee without a problem. Recently a friend of mine had his pickup truck come off of this hitch and slam into the back of his foretravel nimbus causing extensive damage, so a good towbar is essential. I like Roadmaster products. I wouldn't say they're the best just that I like them.

  • Recommended Flat Towing Equipment For A 2016 GMC Yukon
The Roadmaster Falcon 5250 tow bar you have will work with Roadmaster base plates but it is not rated to tow your 2016 GMC Yukon.
