In order to flat tow a vehicle behind your motor home there are 5 things you will need. Base plates for each vehicle being towed, a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting on the vehicles being towed, and a supplemental braking system in the vehicle being towed.
To find the correct base plates, I need the year of the Dodge Ram 3500. For the 2010 Chevy Suburban, use Roadmaster XL Base Plates, # 3154-1. For a compatible tow bar, I recommend the RoadMaster Blackhawk 2 All Terrain Tow Bar, # RM-422, because it has a 10,000 pound capacity.
For safety cables, you would need Roadmaster Straight Safety Cables, # RM-645. The tow bar above has channels for the safety cables to go through. This keeps them off of the ground.
For lighting, there are a couple of options. You can use a magnetic kit, # RM-2120, or, for a more permanent solution, diodes using Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-154. I have included a link to a video showing a typical diode installation for you to view.
Last, most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being towed. The easiest to install and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, # RM-9400. This is a proportional braking system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking for safe braking that also saves wear and tear on both vehicles.
You will be able to use one system in either vehicle using the Roadmaster Even Brake 2nd Vehicle Kit, # RM-98400. The magnetic light kit and safety cables can also be used on both vehicles.
