Optronics Dome Light Dimensional Diagram

Need extra light over your camper kitchen sink for when you do the dishes? Or perhaps you need to upgrade the dim, old lights in your enclosed car hauler? This dome light has warm white LEDs that give you brighter light underneath a kitchen cabinet, in a walkway, above a shower stall, or inside a small hunting cabin.

Optronics Dome LEDs

LEDs are more energy efficient, last longer, and burn brighter than lights with incandescent bulbs. You won't have to worry about replacing bulbs that have brittle filaments. And because LEDs draw minimal power, the light won't drain your battery, overload your circuits, or produce too much heat.

Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens

Lumens are utilized to measure the actual amount of light that you can see and use from a light source. If you need a super bright light for a workspace, you will want to go with a light that has a higher lumen count. If you want a softer glow in an RV living space, you should go with a light that has a lower lumen count.

Light sources typically have 2 different kinds of lumens: raw and effective. Raw lumens represent the natural amount of light that a manufacturer says their light fixtures can produce. Effective lumens, on the other hand, represent the usable brightness of the entire light assembly, including the drive method or any lenses or reflectors.

Surface-Mount, Bolt-On Installation is Easy

Optronics Dome Light Installed

This surface-mount dome light is incredibly easy to install as an upgrade or direct replacement of your existing light. To access the bolt holes, pull the lenses up and away from the housing. Do not use any tools to remove the lenses, as they will crack. Then, using hardware (not included), bolt the housing onto the ceiling, wall, or cabinet before re-installing the lenses. The light has a 2-wire design that hooks up to ground (white wire) and power (black wire). Once you're finished, you can then turn the lights on and off using the integrated toggle switch in the center of the light. And if you want to be able to control the brightness of the light, you can connect it to an LED-compatible dimmer switch (not included).

Once again, your shipping department failed to put any packing material in my order to keep the lights from banging around against each other.
When is your shipping department going to learn how to properly pack these lights?
check the reviews on this item and see how many times I've had this same issue!

I am sorry that this arrived in this condition. We are currently sending this information over to our shipping department for them to do better in the future. Our customer service department will be getting in touch with you soon.

Fantastic light and amount of illumination compared to our previous two bulb old school light. If I could install other lights like this in our horse trailer's living quarters, I would.

by:

Bought these lights to replace all the light fixtures in my 30 foot coachman trailer. The bulb fixtures were very hot and burning out the switches. These were an exact replacement. Easy to install, more light output, run very cool, price is great and fast shipping.Have had installed for 1 year and no problems. Very happy with these lights.bought 8 double and 2 single

by:

Great product. Good lighting, easy install. Dealing with etrailer.com is actually a pleasant experience. Personable and communicative.

I am well pleased with LED light upgrade. They are bright and are very easy to install. they are great buy.

They have been working great. Very good product

by:

Easy direct replacement, nice light quality and distribution, bright without prismatic colors. Lens covers were difficult to remove (necessary to access the screws to install). Otherwise, so far so good.

The lights seem to work well. Brightness and light output is good. My complaint is the lenses - which are not smooth, but have rounded ridges for strength? - act as a prism and project a variety of colors on the walls. This is distracting, at the least, and irritating. I ended up pulling the covers off, leaving the LED panels exposed so that we have plain, unfiltered light in the camper. I would like to have lenses that just let unrefracted light through.

by:

Installed this in a large truck for added interior light! Worked perfect.

by:

This puts all my old lights to shame. Brighter and more energy efficient. (savings)
Now I'm considering replacing others that don't need to be replaced because I'll need less of them on to light my camper interior.
Easy order, quick delivery. If i need anything else for my trailer and etrailer had it, I'm ordering it from here.

by:

Great replacement light. Bright and plenty of wire for an easy install. These were not as long as my old lights so I did have 2 screws holes that showed after I installed these but that didn't bother me.

by:

Very nice product for a very low price. I think these are the best buy in trailer lights. They're good enough that I cancelled my plans to install a couple of 4ft strip lights.

Brightness - very good, a pair fully and easily light up the interior of my 8.5x20 enclosed trailer. It helps that I have gloss white walls and ceiling. For a trailer with a plywood interior, I would probably go with 3 of these on the ceiling. If you need detailed task lighting, you might consider using 4 of these (two at the ends of the trailer and two spaced out between front and back). That would give an enormous amount of light thruout the interior.

Installation: very easy. The covers come off easily if you use a blunt tool and push on the cover "slots" to ease the lens off. I used the blunt handle of a trim removal tool, but a piece of wood dowl would work fine as well, Even a screwdriver might be fine if you were really careful with it. The lenses are on tight but apply firm pressure an the lens will slide loose.

The lights have 8 mounting holes but you really only need to use 4. This makes it easy because you just pick the holes that are most convenient to use (I put a pair into the aluminum header rail in my trailer ceiling).

Don't forget that white is ground and black is power. I grounded the lights by crimping a small ring terminal on the white lead and putting it over one of the mounting screws.

I compared these with the lights in many other trailers and no question these are the best value in trailer interior lighting. There are better lights but at more than 5x the price. Quite a few friends who saw these in my trailer have bought these to replace their existing lights.

by:

work nice, have gone though most of my older camper and cargo trailer with this model and single side version, I like the warmer white ones not as much of a blueish light, much brighter than traditional dome light bulbs.

sometimes the flicker a little when running off vehicle, but probably slight voltage fluctuation, also I've found they don't work with some switching mode power supplies but will work fine off batteries/clean DC

by:

I have purchased several items thru ETrailer and the delivery time and Customer Service is second to none !!

by:

Perfect for my application. Superior b rightness.

by:

Nice lights, well made and easy to install and get hooked up. I thought they would be a brighter white than what they are but they still produce plenty of usable light to be able to see well.

by:

Great product and etrailer quick tracking and delivery. Installed and now we can see with low consumption led lighting.

by:

I changed out 7 double and 5 single lights to these LED lights in our 2009 Wildwood Bunkhouse. They are excellent lights and nicely brighter than the originals (many of which were beginning to melt the lenses).

I noted in the reviews of the trouble getting the lenses off for mounting. I had all 19 lenses off in less than 5 minutes. Very simple. Just used a small wooden dowel (diameter of a pencil) with the end shapped square and placed in the small notch in the lense and gave a firm tap with a small hammer. Tap one side then the other and they are off. I rigged up a stop for the light on the camper table but could have used a shallow drawer or some such.

Lights have worked out great. The battery power supply fan never turns of now, but did originally when about 4 old lights were on. I am thinking of replacing the last two, that I thought last year would not be used much.

by:

This LED light corrected the problem that I had with OEM lights in my 2014 travel trailer where RFI from the lights were causing interference on broadcast television. Of course I have other lights that need replacement, but this is a solution. Attached photo is for the single head light which also had the same problem.

Still pleased with this light.

by:

I installed these lights every 4 feet in my new enclosed car hauler and boy to they light things up! With no windows in the trailer and the door closed it's completely dark in there and the one tiny light supplied with the trailer was not going to do it.

Drpcfix

Lights work great. I installed a master switch right by the door and when I enter I can light up the entire trailer. A million times better than the single light that came with the trailer.

by:

This light fixture went into bathroom above medicine cabinet. It puts out great light. Also does not put out heat.

by:

Wow! These lights are a 1000% improvement! My trailer had 2 old school lights that didn't produce any light at all (had to use a flashlight). These are Exactly what I was looking for. In fact I liked them so much I ordered 2 more for my oldest sons trailer too. And super fast shipping!!!

So, I have gotten in contact with the manufacturer; and they suggested to try testing with a volt meter, like part # PT89ZR, to make sure you are getting 12 volts to where the power wire from this lamp connects and to make sure that its grounded properly. Can you provide some pictures of your mount, and how the light is grounded?

by:

Replaced an old closet light in my motorhome - easy changeout - much more light now!

by:

We all our light fixtures in our 28 ft Winnebago with these LED dome lights, Our previous ones were not LED, and after 10 years, the plastic crumbled. These dome lights are awesome, simple to install, and though a tiny bit more narrow than the old dome lights, look fine mounted on the ceiling.
Etrailer got them to us in a record number of days, well packed. When we were unsure which to order, their personnel were excellent at answering. Their website is also great to use. Love that you can put in the make, model and year of your RV, and it tells you what will work. AWESOME!!! We will order with you in the future. Thank you.

these lites improved the inside of the camper greatly.

  • Why Does Lumens Rating of Interior Light RVILL34 Seem High
Lumens are a funny rating actually. Since Lumens is more about the visibility of the light at a distance they really aren't a great way to describe the amount of light provided for illumination. The # RVILL34 does have a very high Lumen rating at 930 but that is linked to the fact that the lights are LED and the light panels in the light are pretty large. This is a very bright light though, check out the review video I attached.

  • How to ID Enclosed Trailer Wire When Installing Optronics LED Interior Light
Yes, on the Optronics LED RV Interior Light, # RVILL34, the black wire will be the 12-volt power wire and the white wire will be the ground. If you are having issues with finding which wire is power and ground on your trailer, then I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Clip the alligator clip to the trailer and then probe the wires. When the tester lights up that wire will be your 12-volt power wire.

It is my understanding that backup/reverse lights aren't really required on trailers, however that rule could be different depending on where you live.
