How to Install Lights In a Enclosed Trailer And Upgrade the Breakaway Battery To Power The Lights

Question:

Im wondering if I can hook up trailer lights in my enclosed 7 x 14 trailer that would run off of a 12v deep cycle battery that I would mount on the front of my trailer. Id like it to take the place of my small battery for my breakaway system. I would also like my vehicle to charge the battery. Do you know of such a system? The goal is to run the trailer lights without having to have my truck running and the lights on.

Not only can it be done it is actually much easier than you might think John. First for the battery you want to select a deep cycle battery like the # BRW34FR. This will need to be stored in a Box # DW03009 to protect it from the elements. You can simply connect it using the wiring you already have to your breakaway battery as this receives a charge from your tow vehicle when connected and will recharge the battery then.

For the lights you can select either Switched Lights # RVILL34 or Non-Switched Lights # OPT38FR depending on if you want a switch on each individual light or want to run them to a Switch # 37213885. Depending on your trailer you may have a chase for the wiring on the top corners to run the wiring. I find this is also a great place to install the lights since it angles into the trailer and will throw light all around your trailer. And I find 4 lights work best but this can depend on what exactly you are using the lights for and where you want the light to be.
