P2-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

I bought this to replace a broken original marker light on our 1995 motorhome.

Pros - LED, sleeker look than original, easy to wire if you are familiar with wiring lights for vehicles/trailers, priced better than incandescent.

Cons - The screw holes are closer together than my original fixture but I drilled a new pilot hole for the second screw and it was fine, the light sticks out further than the original, and I don’t like squatting or kneeling in order to fix things, anymore (but that’s just a reflection on me and not the light).

There have been no problems whatsoever with the light. I don’t give it a second thought.

I would mark 5 stars for the products themselves but I've reduced to 4 simply because of the packaging. I ordered clearance lights and they were all thrown into a padded shipping bag with no individual packaging. After being tossed around through the mail, several of the light casings arrived scuffed and scratched. I would recommend shipping at least separates the products before mailing a bulk package. Otherwise, the products themselves seem to be as advertised.

The led lights are still working. The problematic fuse in the car has not blown so switching from incandescent to led has been worth the cost.

by:

Have had these for 1 year and still work great, good brightness and lens is holding color well. wish i would of noticed these have 3 leds vs 1 from the other brand i would of bought these for all my lights. great product

by:

Replaced burned out incandescent clearance light with LED. Been doing that with all my incandescent lights as they fail. Worked great and fantastic price. Wiring info on the etrailer web site also helpful. This was the closest match to the originals.

by:

They worked great . Shipped and received in good order and on time .

by:

I replaced all the incandescent running lights on my RV with these LED versions last year. The installation went as expected and they new lights are brighter and operated perfectly all season long. The information provided by etrailer online was exactly what was needed to make the proper selection and the service was exemplary as always. Thank you etrailer!

by:

Perfect fit on our 2013 Unity Leisure v an.

by:

I am sure the product is of average quality, however when you purchase multiple items from etrailer (some of substantial weight) and they box everything together without any packing materials to keep fragile items safe, the comfort and likeness of purchasing items through this retailer drops. Brought this up with their customer service, and they said it was packed properly.

by:

worked great to replace my Dynamax RV clearance light. Easy to find on the website and a fair price. etrailer is a great resource for trailer and camper owners.

by:

Well, they are just lights – amber and red. But, I upgraded all my trailer lights to LED’s, and these continue to look and function great.

by:

Works perfectly!

by:

This is my second order of these lights. The first order was a test to see if I like the way they look to replace my old cracked and dirty incandescent lights. Once I put the new lights on my trailer, I knew I had to replace all of my lights because they look so great! They make my old 1999 Jayco look like new!

by:

Fast and efficient service! Definitely recommend

by:

Great service, good product, excellent delivery.

by: 04/27/2023

They're okay. They don't seem very bright, but I'll have to see them in the dark, I guess. They could have easily left the wires so you could use them as they are or pull them back inside for stud-powered applications. I had to drill holes in the light to feed the wires back inside of the light to hook them up. Would have been nice if they were going to just be dumped in a box and sent out if they had the protective film over the lenses. Out of 13, 1 isn't all scuffed up from shipping. The screws have a pedestal under the light, so that hits before the rest of the light, leaving a gap all the way around.

by:

Had a faulty light, and they quickly sent me out another one perfect A+

by:

Works as described. Good replacement

by:

Perfect replacement parts, Kim was awes ome.

by:

Great product. Really appreciate that the wires are pre stripped. Just wish there was a seal for the backside of the lights to
Seal the back from water intrusion

by:

Great prices ! ,fantastic service,fast shipping = 100% satisfaction! :-) thanks

by:

Still looking and running well. We are so happy that we were able to find these and replace the old ones that were on our little toybox trailer.

by:

Nice size light to mount on 2" angle iron that I'm making a light bar to mount on the rear and top of my pickup bed. I'll be using the light bar while towing the pickup behind my motorhome this winter. I am using 2 of the these lights in the center of the light bar. I'll have 2 larger lights with brake and turn signals on each end of the light bar.

Erniet

  • Recommended Marker Light For Fenders On 1999 Pace Worksport
I don't have the specs for your specific light as manufacturers constantly change lights, but I can make a recommendation for you to replace what was ripped out. I see two different colors online, so I'll give you an option for an amber light and a red light. For an amber light, I recommend the Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Light w/ Reflex Reflector - Rectangle - Amber Lens - White Base, # MC32AB. This light is 4 long x 2 tall x 1-1/8 inches deep. It is a surface mount with a twist-in...

  • Availability of Gasket for Marker Lights on Motorhome
There is not specific gasket made for either the # 47-59-001 or the # MCL32RB trailer clearance lights but I do have a solution for you. I've attached an installation video that shows our installer using the TremPro Silicone Sealant # 0160297. This will create a waterproof seal or gasket for your new lights. The gasket that may work for you, but is designed for the MC series lights is # A32GB. This gasket was designed to fit 4 inch by 2 inch lights. I have linked the above mentioned...

  • Replacing Existing Clearance Lights on a Lancer Camper with Yellow and Green Wiring
Trailer clearance lights have one wire for the power and one wire for the ground. You'll need to test your trailer light wiring with a Digital Multimeter to determine which color controls which function. There are no standard guidelines for trailer wiring so I can not tell you which wire does what. I recommend item # PT89ZR this multimeter will allow you to safely troubleshoot a variety of electrical circuits and help you to identify which wire is for power and ground. I recommend the...

  • How To Identify Trailer Marker Clearance Lamp to Find Correct Replacement
Are you speaking of a clearance/marker light? If so, the numbers you provided state that the lamp's lens is compliant with certain DOT regualations, but isn't necessarily an identifier that would help in finding a correct replacement. I'd recommend checking the lamp housing itself, and examine it closely for a part number. If I can get the actual part number of the lamp itself, or a photo with dimensions I can recommend a replacement lens or lamp if a lens isn't available. The # MCL32RB...

Yes, too many lights, be it tail lights like the Optronics FLEET Count LED Backup Light for Truck or Trailer # BUL12CFB or clearance lights like the LED Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Light # MCL32RB can make them dim. That said, LED lights are far less likely to do that, as they draw much less power; for example, the FLEET backup light only draws 0.260 amps, and the LED clearance only draws 0.06 amps, so you'll simply need to ensure you don't overload it based on whatever your converter...
