I can't say I'm entirely happy with my purchase. The instructions were more confusing than helpful. Note in "instruction.jpg" photo of STEP 1 that the text says to put the 8 small bolts in from the inside first, but the drawing clearly shows them as going in from the outside. The last step says to place the ramp onto the receiver as shown.... glad I didn't throw away the box because there is no drawing that shows ramp installation. Actually, the photo on the box was more helpful than any of the instructions.
Also, I need to make a trip to the hardware store to buy longer medium bolts because the ones that came with the carrier were not long enough to fully engage the self locking feature of the nylon lock nuts. At a minimum a couple of threads should protrude beyond the nylon. See photo "nut.jpg". The bolt threads don't reach the end of the nylon, so the self locking feature is not fully engaged. I did tighten the nut, but that was as far as it would go.
I think once I get back from the hardware store with the new medium bolts and after I reverse the 8 small bolts (I followed the drawing and not the text of the instructions), I'll be OK with the carrier.

I will relay this information over to the manufacturer. Hopefully we can get this all updated since you are not the only one who has had this issue.

"Instantly Get Rid of Wobble and Upgrade With Lights"
This is not a 5 because ramp should be longer & there should be some type stabilizer to temporary hold bike while strapping down, I'd pay more for those upgrades.
The wobble can instantly be solved by hooking Tie-Straps closest to vehicle directly to the receiver where you hook your chains, rather than hooking them to the provided holes on carrier itself. You of course use the provided strap holes ones on the opposite side. When strapped down as stated, the carrier now becomes one with the vehicle & @ 80mph there is no wobble. (*TIP: Put ramp back in its place before strapping down or else it won't fit with the strap hooks in the way.)
I upgraded mine with lights for both safety reasons & not needing the Police any reason to pull me over. It was very simple and cost me nothing but time & maybe $50.
I recommend this product whole heartedly.

This is a great and high quality trailer. Works for scooters and small motorcycles too!

by:

Great product and experience from the beginning!! We ordered it with the free standard shipping 5-7 days and I got an email saying they shipped it express 3-5 days at no extra cost!!! We received it really fast!! I also feel it is a great buy for the money!!!

We haven't used it on our motor home yet but used it yesterday on our truck to pick up our new scooter. It worked perfectly! We also purchased the Anti-Tilt Bracket ANTI-REV-REV and I highly recommend it!! Without it there was a little wiggle but with it it didn't move at all.

Can't wait to try it out on our first camping trip in the motor home!!!

Have you used it behind the motorhome? Do you dind that the ramp is not long enough?

Kim H.

To Jim M - yes we used it for our motorhome and it worked great! We ended up selling the scooter and carrier - but while we had it we loved the carrier!!

by:

I think it's well put together and easy to assemble. I would give 5 stars if the literature/manual/box would have indicated it was suitable for RV use like the web site does.

by:

The carrier was straightforward and easy to assemble. I have a 300lb. TW 200. The first time i ran it up the ramp, I used the motor and first gear. It took of bit of trial and error, but I finally got the placement on the "pins" where the front wheel drops in correctly. After that, the ramp was shallow enough where I just put the bike in "N" and ran her up and down a few times.

I like the ramp. I really do...I just wish it was a BIT beefier. Some of the gravel, rutted, backwoods roads I take to ride might throw the bike around pretty good. I used thread lock where needed.

by:

The carrier does what it's supposed to do. No need for a trailer to haul my dirt bike.

by:

Sweet! Super easy to build and light enough to handle. I have to get a run at it because my truck is lifted and my hitch is high. I might build an extended ramp that will allow a shallower pitch for loading.
Just a tip...figure out pin location by loading bike on the rack with it on the ground instead of trying to do it on vehicle the first time. In addition to load straps I also use large Velcro straps with built in carabineers on rims. I also use a anti sway U-bolt and plate to tighten rack to receiver hitch, that keeps everything pretty stable.
Awesome product guys, thanks

by:

I have not used this on the road yet as I just installed it, but these are my initial impressions:

Pros:
1. The build quality seems good and strong
2. The assembly was easy
3. It is relatively compact to store and mount, much better option then storing a trailer in my garage.
4. Cost is great.
5. Super easy to load the bike on and off.
6. It looks pretty awesome with the bike on it, and I can actually load the bike the night before and it still fits in my garage so I can leave early the next day.

Cons:
1. The ramp is mounted on the same brace as the bike tie down hook. So getting it on and off while the bike is mounted is not the easiest, you can do it but you need to really wiggle it in. Ideally if you have two people you put the ramp in before you tie the bike down but its not always possible.
2. When the bike is loaded on the ramp without the tie downs, it does not stand on its own so you can walk around easily and tie it down. You need to do a balancing act to get it secured. This isn't really an issue with the ramp, and I'm not sure of a solution, but maybe something to consider if you plan on loading and unloading by yourself with a 60k SUV just moments away from a bike accidentally falling on it..

by:

I was a little concerned that the lower price might reflect quality of this carrier, i was pleasantly surprised. This is a solid carrier easy to load easy to unload, I've been trying it for a while before i take a trip, and i almost forget its there. I went out and bought an extra 8" bolt because i only haul the one bike and do not need the tire diameter adjustability. The extra bolt keeps the front up on the rails and doesn't drop in until the last dip rather than in the last two dips. TIP: Get the ramp put back on right away before you fully strap the bike down, otherwise the strap hooks interfere with getting the ramp in place. GREAT PRODUCT, FAST SHIPPING, GREAT WEB SITE! Keep up the good work etrailer!

I bought the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier to haul a 150cc scooter on the back of my RV (see photo).

I received the item 2 days after I ordered it. All parts and directions were included. Assembly was simple. The overall quality of construction and powder coating is very good. Although the directions don’t say so, I would recommend “test fitting” your bike/scooter after the carrier is assembled and while it is still on the ground, in order to ensure the appropriate placement of the cross bolts and safety pins.

I could not get the scooter on the carrier using the included 3’ ramp. It was too steep of an incline and the middle of my scooter got hung-up where the ramp meets the carrier platform. It tore off the plastic mud cover under the scooter and the ramp slid off the end of the platform. Fortunately, I was able to lift the scooter off the platform without further damage. I would highly recommend that (for safety) you have 2 people on hand during the initial installation. (I didn’t.) Once properly installed, it is a 1-man operation to load/unload the bike/scooter. I had to swing my right side rear view mirror in for clearance to the back of the RV. This would not be required for a pickup truck installation.

I was able to get the scooter onto the carrier using a 6’ folding motorcycle ramp that I have. This made the incline much less steep and the scooter easily rolled onto the carrier in a one-man operation. Having to carry the extra motorcycle ramp is going to be a hassle, and it defeats the purpose of the included detachable/stowable ramp, but it’s the only way I can get the scooter loaded. I’m sure that the included 3’ ramp would be great for a dirt bike with higher clearance under the frame, but with a low slung scooter, it won’t work. The safety pins that are intended to go through the spokes of the front wheel do not work on my scooter’s 13” wheel. I tried adjusting the cross bolts as per the directions, but the configuration of my wheels just won’t work with these pins. I’m sure they would work with a dirt bike wheel. I used ratchet straps to hold the wheels securely in place in lieu of the pins.

My scooter has a lot of plastic body parts, which makes it difficult to find secure tie-down points. I tied it down with 4 ratchet straps as documented in the photo and I took it on a test drive. I was able to watch the scooter on my rear-view video camera. It rode well.

I am satisfied with the product, but I would not recommend it for scooters like mine. A longer ramp would make it more user-friendly for scooters. As is, it is best used for dirt bikes.

by:

Product came just as pictured. Very easy to put together, less then 20 min. Test fit with a 2016 Husqvarna and it did great. I will be purchasing a hitch stabalizer because I will be going off road with it and don't want it to move at all. It has very minimal movement though. Overall very happy with product.

by:

This worked great for my klr 650. I hauled it on the front of my truck across the country and back about 7,000 miles. Only problem is the ramp can fall off as you load bike. I had to use strap to keep it attached.

by:

Had to assemble and was able to do so rather easily, however the instructions were a bit vague. It will work for what I want it to do. I am using it on the front of my pickup to carry a 50cc Vespa. I'm going to use an extra strap attached to my brush guard, pulling back, to ensure the scooter doesn't try to roll forward.

by:

Used this carrier for my DR650, put it on my Equinox that I use as a TOAD behind my Coachmen Motirhome. Went from Waco, TX, to Taos, NM, to Douglas, AZ, to Tyler, TX - then back to Waco. Carrier held up great - no problems, and I can load and unload it with ease ( 71 years old )

by:

Assembly took 30 minutes. Pretty easy. Seems solidly built. Would recommend anti-wobble bracket to reduce/eliminate the hitch play. Haven't used it yet. Customer service(emails and followup) has been good. Good company it seems.

by:

Went together easy, Took some trial and error to locate cross bolts locations to fit my bike.

by:

I would rate this a 5,but was very disappointed when I pulled it out of the box and was all chipped up and looked damaged. Other than it's very beat up/ used appearance, it was simple to put together, and transported my sons dirtbike well. They should do a better job with the packing to prevent damage, or don't send used products

by:

Buyer beware!!!! I haul a 280 pound Honda CRF450L dirtbike --- and this hitch ramp is horrible. I wish etrailer would offer a better quality motorcycle carrier. This one wobbles all over the place, is made with thin wall steel that bends easily, and is not made of good quality. I urge you to look elsewhere if you care about your bike. Will it hold....yes, but will you worry about your wobbling back back and fourth the whole time your driving worth it? I say not.The bends are where the bolts go through the unit when tightening them due to the thin material thickness. Also the top cross braces bend making the two peice design a weak design. When moto is on carrier it wobbles in the receiver terribly bad from side to side. I use a anti wobble device but it does not help. I have since just put the ramp in my junk pile and working on finding a better solution to haul my very exspensive moto.

You mentioned that the carrier wobbles and that it bends easily. I have a few follow up questions to ask. Where is it bending? When you say that it is wobbling, is it loose in the receiver? Or just that the bike is wobbly?

I did send this feedback to the manufacturer who advised that without more information on what might have happened, it would be hard for them to comment on this. They do have the carriers independently tested prior to distribution. I checked with the other cargo carriers that we offer and this was the only motorcycle carrier that we currently have.

Solid as a rock

by:

I used this rack to pick up a new dirt bike (~250 lbs dry weight) that was 4 hour drive from my house. I used a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the bike loaded very easily when idled up onto the rack in 1st gear while walking beside it. Tons of clearance between the bike and the rear of the vehicle so no concerns there. The tie-down points work really well and the bike seemed very stable. I added a tensioning device to keep the rack from wobbling in the receiver, which I would recommend. Overall, I'm very satisfied, especially considering the great price on this rack.
To provide a complete review, I will point out some things that I think could be improved: (1) Since the main tray is divided into two sections, it sags into a sort of frown shape after the bike is on for some time. This is due to the slop in the mounting holes where the support straps attach. This could be done better. (2) At least when the rack is empty, the ramp sort of clatters around in it's mount because there is quite a bit of play. I just threw the ramp inside my vehicle as it is pretty small.

I use this to carry my Aventon Aventure e-bike and it works great on both my motorhome and my Toyota RAV4. I use the protaper straps on the e-bikes handle bars and it is so easy to use. I love the included ramp which makes the weight of this e-bike very manageable.

by:

Not very sturdy and doesn't stick out far enough with a front mount on my Ram. Also, dual sport 400, doesn't really fit well and not sure if I can even use it. I'll keep working at it to see if I can get it to fit and maybe there is an extension to help stick out a little further in order to strap it down.
