Assembled ok. Works well for my mobility scooter, Easy on/off.
Printed assembly instructions and pics are difficult to see, recommend downloading pdf for easier viewing.

It continues to be a great success. It used to transport my electric scooter.

dear carol thank you for sending a email. as soon as ups guy comes back to put the package on the porch instead of leaving it on the side walk for all to see, I will be glad to give rating on the cargo hitch.it looks great can't wait to see cargo carrier.

Shipping was way faster than advertised, ordered on a Tuesday morning and arrived Wednesday afternoon. Assembly was minimal and easy, operating the ramp and the fold up operation are easy for one person to do.Have used it several times for hauling my Hoveround Mobility Vehicle (my main reason for purchasing the Flint Hill Goods Wheelchair Carrier Item# FHG99ZR), and has performed flawlessly. Doesn’t rattle around and my truck doesn’t even know it’s there. Very pleased with this purchase!!

by:

China should provide better understandable instructions with product manufactured and sold in America. If that can’t be done , at lest proper photos to how product should be assembled ridiculous !!! With having to waste time assembling twice. Other then that meats the objective purchased…

by:

Arrived in reasonably good shape. One frame side was slightly bent in about 3/8" during shipping and a sledge hammer and wood block fixed that pronto so that the ramp could be used. The assembly was easy, no issues once I got the frame side unbent. However, just a head's up if there is a need to lock the carrier to your vehicle for some manner of theft prevention - be aware that the hitch tube has a 5/8" pin pivot hole on the carrier side and a 1/2" pin hole on the car side. I needed to order two different diameter locking pins - 5/8" for the carrier and 1/2" for the car. All in all, a really good carrier, thank you etrailer!

by:

Seems to be for the most part as advertised. One problem however, the bolt head that attaches the two parts of the ramp hits the upper part of the frame preventing the ramp from being pulled up to open. Using a crowbar, I tried to spring the upper bar on the frame enough to allow the ramp to be pulled up. It was enough that I can now get the ramp pulled up to open, but still not ideal. I hesitate to try to bend the upper bar farther risking breaking the welds. Any suggestions?

I have gotten in contact with our quality department and they have not encountered this issue before. We would recommend using a crow bar to spring the top of the frame out enough to allow the bolt to pass. If this does not correct the issue, this item does have a 90 day warranty that we can further assist you with.

I got my carrier in rapid time. I took it out of the box, and went through the instructions for assembly. It went together with very little effert . What I like about this unit is it is made light enough to handle, yet heavy enough to do the job. I recommend that after you get it assembled that you get a little help in installing it into your hitch receiver. I did it alone and took me a little more effert then I wanted but being a rather large man I did ok. The ramp works great, it allows me to load and carry my 26 inch snow blower from my house to my other jobs I have down town without having to hook my trailer up to the truck. It is wide enough and long enough to fit this blower, which is a 2 stage, and to heavy for me to lift. I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants to be able to haul an item that is to heavy to lift into the back of your truck, yet you don't need a full blown trailer, especially in the winter time. Easy to put together, and to use, plus when you are done it folds up right next to your vehicle, which lets allows you the plus of not having to take it off when not in use.

Still doing the job, used it this mornig to haul my snow blower to the store fronts that I clean snow away from. One of the most successful investment I have ever made

by:

overall, not a bad product. could be better in its fit and finish. The ramp is a little heavy and awkward if your disabled, and the pin chains do break as has been mentioned. I replaced the pins with better ones from a hardware store. This is best used with an suv or pickup as it has some weight. Our Nissan Quest was NOT up to the task of putting a 250-300 lb scooter on it. The aforementioned vehicles with a proper hitch (preferably PU/SUV with class4, 2inch hitch) would do best and loading items that do not have leading and trainling wheels/arms like my wifes electric scooter. a small 4 wheel electric chair perhaps, mowers, tiller, small 4-wheeler would be great choices. It needs a bit of height off the ground so it does not scrap. (ours did constantly because of a very soft suspension). The locking arm(s) are a little awkward, but servicable. The ramp has the lip from the frame to 'jump' over, so a small ramp like a door sill to make a smooth transition would be welcome for small wheeled items, large 10-12 inch wheels should have no problem with angles or the blunt frame edge of the ramp. Overall a good value depending on what you are hauling, and with what you are hauling it with. For the money, its a good size with long ramp. I would NOT recommend using it with an HD jazzy scooter with trailing arms and center drive wheels. If you have a machine that is just front and rear wheel setup, you should be ok. I stress this because of personal experience. This was replaced by a Bruno chariot lift because, (1) it got hit by a bad driver and bent out of usable condition, (2) our vehicle required a different setup to carry our heavy item. With care and attention to detail, a person should be able to get years of service. Has lots of holes and frame work with to tie onto or use straps. I am including a frame picture of scooter to know what to avoid...

The people at e trailer are so friendly and work with the customers to solve the problems. My association with this company sans two months. In October I ordered this carrier . It was delivered quite fast. but I could not assemble it for quite some time due to lack of help . Then I discovered that the item was damaged. The company sent me the replacement but it was the wrong item. The third carrier was received..
The carrier was quite easy to Assemble. Make no mistake it takes two people . The video does not mention that let alone stress that point. We worked with the carrier on the ground. We laid it obits side with he ramp raised up in the vertical position to atach the base to the platform. This will be less strain on the back. The video shows one man lifting it and attaching it to the hitch receiver!!!! have another person help you lift it and insert the carrier in to the receiver. The ramp is simple to extend. Be careful of your fingers getting skinned or caught in the hinge. Lifting the platform to the closed position is quite simple, but be carful it will not fall on to the back of the vehicle. The anti-sway attachment makes the carrier quite stable. The carrier is attached to 2014 Honda CRV.
We have used a couple of times sofar. Secure the scooter with straps .

Wanted to try one of these for my Ariens Deluxe 28 snowblower. Wheeling the blower down ramps out of my truck bed is at least slightly precarious and I can't afford a trailer, so I figured I'd give this a shot.

Assembly was simple enough. It's heavy, but I managed to get it assembled and into the hitch myself. The rack sits a ways out from the hitch itself, but that's a consequence of its 5" depth...when it's folded to the up position, it does not touch my bumper or tailgate. My snowblower weighs about 235lbs, so within half of the rack's rated capacity. The rack itself probably weighs 60-70lbs, so I've got an overall ~350lbs hanging off my trailer hitch. Because the rack itself is a ways out from the hitch, the effective load (F*r) is probably closer to 500-600lbs. My Class IV hitch is rated for 650lbs tongue load, so it should be just fine, especially considering the safety factors engineered into things like hitches.

Today was my first day driving around with the snowblower loaded on it. I drove gently and didn't have any issues. My confidence in the unit will likely grow as the winter goes on and it resists any bending. The unit as a whole does sag slightly with the blower loaded up (see picture), but that's probably more to do with slop in the system than the unit itself.

The grating is slippery, especially in the wet/snow, so be mindful. I ziptied some old car floor mats to the center of the ramp pieces for some foot traction.

Don't forget to account for the added width from the skids if you're planning to use this for a snowblower. I bought this knowing I'd have to rest the skids up on the rails. Get your tie-downs right and you'll be fine.

What great service! I ordered my wheel chair carrier to we could transport a life long friend who has fallen victim to MS. I ordered at 6pm and paid the nominal fee to get it in 3-5 business days, at 10 am the next morning it was on my front door step, WOW! It is a great product, well built and easy to use. The only down side I experienced was that the wobble bracket isn't very universal, it doesn't work with my hitch receiver. However I saved almost $200 over what a local dealer wanted so I can get one that works for my needs. I have had an unsurpassed experience with the product and company! I'll be back!

I bought this product for the width and the ramp. I carry a generator from my house to the deer lease 120 mi one way, Sportsman model 7500 dual fuel, weighing about 270 lbs. The first carrier I ordered made it there just fine, then upon returning home, I noticed that the carrier was sagging bad. I contacted etrailer and they immediately sent a replacement. The replacement did not even make it 10 miles on paved roads in the city before it started to bend. Terrible product, the squaring tubing that the designed used is too thin of gauge, i cant imagine what would happen if someone tried to haul the rated capacity of 500 lbs. Pictures of both carriers attached.

by:

The trailer arrived and within 30 minutes it was installed and we were on the road with it. Drove 7 hours without any shimmy or sway. Videos were really helpful in seeing various positions of trailer. Paper instructions for assembly were detailed but drawings were very small; had to use trial and error for part that steadies the trailer.

Hi Patrick,The Cargo Carrier is excellent. I use it often and am very glad I purchased it.ThanksKent

by:

Very fast delivery, two days. Very simple to assemble. The instruction pictures have the carrier assembled opening into the street and not towards the curb. Here in Pa it is illegal to park against on going traffic, the ramp should be on the passenger side. This was an easy fix while assembling. Happy with construction. I will be rebuilding the anti-tilt locking bracket since it was welded crooked and throws off the level of the platform. I will also add extra welds to the bottom square tubing near the weep holes. In all very satisfied with etrailer.com and will purchase from again. Thanks

by:

So it is just sitting in my garage.

by:

It is well built, heavy duty, gets the job done!

Love the product. Its is working for eveything i bought it for. Dewalt portable table saw rolls right up it . Fits mobile tool box as well. Picture is to show you. I use ratchet tie downs as well.

Shipping was super fast. Ordered day before got next day around 7pm. I live about a 1hour away from shop.

by:

Here are some pictures. Took me twenty minutes to build it without looking at the instructions. Very easy to setup. Easy to install to the vehicle by myself as well.

by:

The box was man handled by a UPS driver. The first delivery attempt was left on the truck because the driver said he needed a 2nd person to pick it up. The 2nd driver the next day did it solo. I didn't notice the box damaged. The second delivery seems much better. I'll see if it survives the 1st load.

Been using for snow blower for route. Working great! Been holding up good so far with heavy abuse.

I bought this carrier for my dad's power chair. His truck sits high so we needed the 60" ramp. I haven't used the carrier yet because it is a surprise for him so I can't give 5 stars. I'm giving 4 for the ease of ordering, fantastic shipping and quality of the carrier. I ordered this carrier on a Sunday afternoon and it arrived Wednesday evening! I did opt for the express delivery which states 3-5 business days. I assumed I'd get it Thursday at best but I was pleasantly surprised. I put it together by myself using a grand total of 5 wrenches. I could've reduced that number to 2 if I'd used adjustable wrenches but I had ratchet wrenches on hand to fit everything. Speaking of that, all the bolt/nut sizes are emperial (not metric) and that made it easier. I had it un-packed, assembled and installed on my truck to fit test everything in under 30 minutes. It is a little heavy and awkward for one person to lift/mount but it isn't impossible. I'm of average height, weight and strength and managed it without too much strain. The fact that it is heavy is a good thing, in my opinion. I'd be afraid of a steel carrier of this size if it wasn't substantially heavy. The finish is very good, all components were in the packaging and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I'll come back after we've put some miles on it and see which way I need to amend my review!

Ryan

11/11/2016

The only complaint that I have is the ramp angle and edge. The ramp, even being longer, still has a sharp angle that makes loading a power chair difficult. It isnt a ride on process. The edge of the ramp is 1 steel tubing and it is difficult to get the chair wheels over it. The problem comes when loading because you cannot get up any speed to bounce over the edge because you will slip off the edge.

by:

I'm giving his carrier a 5 star rating because it lives up to it's advertised description. It was rather simple to assembly, about 30 minutes for me. The extra long ramp is the best I've seen in this price range and it's sturdy enough to handle my 250 LBS stature as I walked up and bounced on the flat platform. The full length stretched steel mesh is tack welded all throughout the frame and this style material simplifies loading with ease. After assembly was complete, I did need a 2nd person to help mount the carrier onto the vehicle.
The carrier arrived 2 days ahead of the projected delivery date.
Hats-Off for etrailer.com great price and great product and FREE shipping!

The cargo carrier still functions as intended load and haul. What we found with it’s use is that the alignment pins are tight and we have to jiggle the carrier to fully close the ramp and that along, has been difficult. We knew in the beginning it would take two people to mount the carrier to the vehicle hitch, but we struggle due to its weight and size, just to got it properly mounted onto the vehicle hitch. The school of hard-knocks has taught me that maybe the aluminum unit would have been a better choice, as the steel unit is very heavy and the more I struggle with it, the heavy it gets.

by:

The carrier is as advertised. Assembly went well, but would have been faster had I done it fifty years ago. :-) I have not yet installed it on my vehicle.
Primary use intended is for my wife's power wheelchair. I may have uses for it as a substitute for my large utility trailer.
Assembly instructions are complete and accurate. I may submit a picture later after installation on vehicle. I am pleased overall with the purchase.

I dont use the carrier often, but nice to have it when needed. I put it on by myself, so when take it off, set it up on blocks at near the right height for mounting. I have to agree with others, pins and chains are flimsy, but I have no major complaints with the unit. Serving my purpose.

  • Can Two E-Bikes And A Champion Generator Fit On A Flint Hill Goods Wheelchair Carrier
Hey Dewey, The Flint Hill Goods 30" x 50" Wheelchair Carrier w/ 60" Ramp # FHG99ZR has a 500lb capacity so it likely could handle the weight of your generator and two e-bikes, but at 30" x 50" you won't have enough space for all three. With e-bikes you'd likely have to use a hitch mounted bike rack and have to store the generator up on a roof mounted basket. If this is something you'd be good with doing then I'll need to know the year/make/model of the vehicle to find the right components.

  • Recommended Wheelchair/Scooter Carrier With Ramp For A 2021 Grand Design 5th Wheel
Hello Craig. I do have a solution for you, but the Flint Hill Goods Wheelchair Carrier # FHG99ZR is not recommended for use behind RVs, campers, or trailers. The ride on the back of a 5th wheel or RV is a lot more rough than on the back of a car or SUV and the carrier simply is not rated for this kind of use. What I recommend using instead is the 32x48 Reese Steel Solo Cargo Carrier # PS10401-10402. This is made for a 2" hitch and is rated for 400 lbs, so more than enough for your 100...

Hi Thomas, Yes you can add a hitch to your 2024 Kia Niro to add a wheelchair carrier. For a hitch you'll need a 2 inch hitch, and the only option for that is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C77NR. This has a 200 lb tongue weight capacity, which means 200 lbs is the most the combined weight of the wheelchair and carrier can be. So for example if you used the Flint Hill Goods 30" x 50" Wheelchair Carrier # FHG99ZR, which weighs 92 lbs, then the most the chair could weigh is 108 lbs.
