Front-Mounted Universal RV Hitch for Using Motorcycle Carrier on 2007 Jayco Seneca Class C RV
Question:
I have a 2007/2008 Jayco Seneca motorhome and I would like to be able to trailer my boat and put a front trailer hitch on the front of the Kodiak chassis to carry a motorcycle. Does your universal front hitch hitch work on this truck/motorhome? Im not sure that the weight ratings would work to use the dual receiver hitch adapter on the rear to trailer the boat and put a motorcycle carrier and motorcycle in the rear. I think I would easily be over the 400 pound tongue weight rating. Thanks.

We offer no custom front-mount hitches for the Chevrolet Kodiak frame on which your Jayco Seneca is built, but we do offer universal-fit RV hitches that are shown on the linked page. These are available in bolt-on and weld-on types, and with varying tongue weight (TW) capacities that range from 350-lbs to 500-lbs. The weight-carrying capacity of your Kodiak chassis must also be confirmed in order to know your actual capacity for hitch-mounted accessories like motorcycle carriers. The lowest-rated part of the system - hitch or frame - will determine the actual TW limit.
Your VIN is the best way to research the vehicle's ratings with the folks at Jayco.
These RV hitches are made with adjustable mounting brackets that allow them to fit a range of RV frame widths. They can mount at the front of an RV as well as at the back; I confirmed this with my contact at Curt. You can measure the outside-to-outside frame dimension of your Seneca to find the best match.
Once you know the frame's weight capacity is sufficient you can select a hitch with a high enough TW rating for the combined weight of your carrier and motorcycle. The Curt hitch # C13702 has a 500-lb TW rating, the highest we offer in an adjustable RV hitch. If you were to use a carrier like the Ultra-Fab # UF48-979033, which weighs 51-lbs, then after you deduct that weight from the 500-lb hitch rating you would then have remaining capacity of 449-lbs for the motorcycle. This assumes the vehicle frame also shares this rating.
If you do mount the motorcycle carrier at the front hitch, keep in mind that the bike may affect air flow to the engine which can reduce cooling efficiency. The bike may also block your lights, which is a safety concern.
