I recently bought a truck tent that sets up over the open tailgate. I have a bump/step that became totally useless as it was covered by the tailgate. Then I came across the ST18 extension. Now after the tent is set up, I install the extension then the bump/step itself and your able to step up and into the tent with no problems, and it's also extremely stable!

This is exactly what I needed. Being a long time RV owner, I have purchased many items from E-trailer and have never had a bad experience. Great service, product exactly as described.

  • Hitch Extender for a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Short Bed Towing a Horse Trailer
When you use a hitch extension in a 2 inch or 1-1/4 inch receiver it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. But if you have a 2-1/2 inch receiver the tongue weight capacity is not reduced but usually the capacity of he extension is lower than the hitch so you would go by the lower rating. If you have a 2-1/2 inch receiver opening you can use the Titan extender # RP45292 at the 24 inch length. That will give you a capacity of 6,000 pounds; 8,000 when using weight...

  • Longest Hitch Extender with Highest Capacity for Dolly Towing Vehicle Behind Motorhome
The longest hitch extension for a 2 inch receiver with the highest towing capacity is the # ST18 from Reese. The extender has a 3,500 lb towing capacity. Keep in mind that using an extender like this particular one will lower your hitch towing and tongue weight capacity by one-third. The tongue weight shouldn't be an issue, because car dollies typically don't have a tongue weight much more than 100 lbs. The weight of the car plus the weight of the dolly couldn't exceed the 3500 lb towing...

  • Recommended Hitch Extender for 2011 GMC Canyon I5
Based on my research the 2011 GMC Canyon I5 has 242 hp and 242 ft lbs torque and can handle up to 5,500 lbs towing capacity. We have two trailer hitch receivers for this truck, but if you don't already have a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75607 which is rated much higher so your capacity will be limited by the truck and not reduced by the hitch. For your extension, I recommend the Reese Hitch Extender with step for 2" Trailer Hitches - 18" Long # ST18 which will reduce...

  • Can 18 inch Extender be Used to Pull Boat Trailer Behind Travel Trailer
The Brophy Hitch Extender for 2-inch Trailer Hitches # ST18 can be used to tow a boat trailer behind your truck-pulled camper. There are a few things that you will want to keep in mind though. Even though you can pull a boat trailer behind a bumper trailer it is illegal is many states. The max Tongue Weight (TW) is 350 lbs and max Gross Trailer Weight is 3,500 lbs. Keep in mind that even though this might have a fairly good TW capacity, your TW capacity is reduced by 33-1/3% percent...

  • Limits of Brophy Hitch 18 Extension with Step # ST18
If your Tundra maximum tongue weight (at your Tundra receiver) is 880 pounds and then you attach the Brophy # ST18 extension, then your maximum tongue weight at your Tundra receiver is reduced from 880 to 586 pounds. However, the receiver on the Brophy extension sticking out is only 350 pounds, so you have to go with the lower of the two: 350 pounds. If you attach a cargo carrier that weights 40 pounds by itself, then you have 360 pounds left available for actual cargo to put on the carrier....

  • Availability of Hitch Extender for Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch
We have a few options for an extender that you can use with weight distribution. Depending on the length you need there is the Brophy Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 14" Long # HE12 and Reese Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 18" Long # ST18. The only problem with these is that they will reduce the capacity of your hitch. The Brophy # HE12 has a maximum gross trailer weight of 7,000 lbs and tongue weight of 700 lbs when used with weight distribution. It will also reduce...

  • How To Determine if Brophy Hitch Extender RP11004 Would have Enough Weight Capacity for Towing
The hitch extender part # ST18 is 18 inches long and has a 3,500 lb trailer weight capacity. As long as your trailer weighs less than that the extender will work just fine. But you also need to determine the weight capacity of your trailer hitch like I mentioned and then determine that 33-1/3 percent of that would be still above the capacity of the extender. That being said the limiting factor is the capacity of your hitch. Using this extension will reduce your hitch's weight capacity...

  • Recommended Hitch Extension For A 3 Hitch On A 2021 Ford F-250
The 3" hitches Ford is using are throwing everyone for a bit of a loop. With that being said, I do have a couple options for you to check out. First will be the TorkLift Cannon Hitch Extension - 3" Ford Super Duty Factory Hitch # TLE1636. This will measure 32 inches long, so it is longer than you need, but it is also rated up to 3,600 pounds towing and 360 pounds of tongue weight. This jumps up to 7,200 pounds towing and 720 pounds of tongue weight when a weight distribution system is...

  • Can Hitch Extender be Used to Help Get Boat Trailer Further into Water to Launch It
Depending on how the angle of the ramp changes a super long extension may not be a great idea as it would either point the nose of the trailer up super high or down to low. The longest extension we have for a 2 inch hitch is 18 inches and it would be part # ST18 that you referenced. Using this hitch extender cuts the tongue weight capacity of the hitch it is used on by one-third, while most others reduce it by a half.

  • How Much Does The Brophy Hitch Extender Reduce Tongue Weight
Almost all hitch extenders will cut your tongue weight in half. However, Brophy has confirmed their Brophy Hitch Extender with step part # ST18 will cut the tongue weight of the trailer hitch by only 33-1/3%. If your hitch is rated for 500 lbs tongue weight then the new tongue weight will be 333 lbs compared to 250 lbs with the other options. I instead recommend using an extra long ball mount if you can get away with it because they do not reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch...

We do have hitch extenders that have the step for that same purpose like the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers 18" # ST18 or the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step - 2" Hitches - 19" Long - 6-1/2" x 17" Platform # ST12 (14inch extension). The longest hitch extender we have for a 2 inch hitch is the Brophy extender part # ST18 which will give you an extension of 18 inches. You should note that when you use an extender like this you cut the capacity of the hitch it's installed in by one third percent.

  • Using Reese Titan Hitch Box Extension on 2001 Chevrolet Silverado
It sounds like your Lance camper overhangs the truck bed so you need an extension of some kind. There are a couple of possible solutions. Many extensions will reduce the tongue weight capacity of a trailer hitch by 50 percent. However if you were to use a long ball mount, the capacity is not nearly as affected. A ball mount like # BM20 measures 13-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. I have linked a video review for you. I have also linked all...

  • Brophy Hitch Extender for Weight Distribution System
Based off of the information you have provided me I recommend the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step item # ST18. This is an 18" extension that fits a 2" hitch receiver and has a 6.5" x 17" step. It is rated for up to 7,000 lbs if used with a weight distribution system and 3,500 lbs if used without. However, it does reduce your hitches towing capacity by 1/3rd so you would want to check and make sure your hitch has enough capacity to support this extension. We do not offer the HitchGATE spare...

  • Extending a 2 Hitch Receiver for Better Clearance
It sounds like you already have a 2" receiver, so the reason for wanting the Reese Hitch Box Extension, part # RP45292 is for the extension. Rather than trying to use an adapter to expand your 2" receiver to 2-1/2" (which we do not carry), I suggest going with an extender that is made for your 2" receiver. I recommend another extender, part # ST18. This has an 18" extension with a gross tongue weight of 350 pounds and maximum towing capacity of 3500 pounds. Of course, that can be increased...

  • Does Longer Ball Mount Reduce Hitch Capacity by Same Amount as Hitch Extender
Hitch extenders like the part # ST18 reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch they are installed in. This one in particular does so by on-third which is less than most of the other options. Longer ball mounts like the part # EA40 do not cause the capacity reduction. This is because there isn't the added movement of having an additional hitch connection.

A hitch extender, such as the Brophy Hitch Extender # ST18, will work with your 6,000lb boat trailer if used with a weight distribution hitch. This is because the # ST18 has a max towing capacity of 3,500lbs and tongue weight of 350lbs, but when used in combination with a weight distribution system, this extender can handle up to 7,000lbs and 700lb tongue weight. I like the Brophy Hitch extender with Step # ST18. it reduces your tongue weight by a third instead of most others reduces by a half.
