with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

by:

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

by:

Just what I needed.Got it in a couple of days.

  • Best Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1999 Ford F-350 Powerstroke Diesel
When picking out a transmission cooler for a vehicle you really want to pick out the largest and most efficient style of cooler that will fit the available space in front of your radiator/condenser/intercooler. If you have room for it the Derale Cooler part # D13614 would be a great choice as it is a large plate fin cooler that would do an excellent job cooling your transmission fluid. You will also need the fitting # D13025 to make the install a bit easier.

  • Can 2001 Ford F150 Tow a 1997 Prowler TT Weighing 6200 lbs
Determining the maximum towing capacity of a given truck without knowing exactly how the truck is equipped is pretty difficult. I've researched the issue, and found that the tow rating varies according to the rear axle ratio, and whether the vehicle is a 4x2 or 4x4. In my research I found that at the worst case scenario, your truck should be able to tow at least 7300 lbs. I'd recommend you confirm this for yourself by checking the owner's manual or with Ford. There's another way to determine...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler 2010 Ford F-150 STX
If you are looking for the best transmission cooler available for your 2010 Ford F-150, I suggest the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV # D13504. This 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep, efficient heat exchanger will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance, though it is specifically designed for vehicles with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions. The correct fitting will depend on which size fittings your...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommend For a 2002 Ford F-250 XLT Super Duty 6.8L V10
When installing a transmission cooler, it is always a good idea to install the largest cooler that will fit in the space available on your truck. Transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled, however, if you live in a typically cold climate, it is a good idea to let your vehicle run for 10 minutes before taking off. For your 2002 Ford F-250 XLT Super Duty, going with the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Cooler, # D13504, that you referenced would my recommendation. It is recommended to install...

  • Is Larger Transmission Pan Needed if Installing Supplemental Transmission Cooler on 2002 Ford F-350
No, you will not have to install a larger transmission pan if you added a supplemental transmission cooler though you may need to add more transmission fluid. This is because the core of the new cooler and the hose to add additional capacity. But a larger pan is not needed.

  • Transmission Cooler for 2000 Ford F-250 Towing Heavy 5th Wheel Trailer
Any fluid leaking from a vehicle is a warning. Often this indicates excessive temperatures in your transmission. If your transmission is stressed to the point of leaking fluid this means that somewhere either a seal, hose or other fitting is being pushed past its limit. My first suggestion is that you try to find that leakage point so you can check whether you have a bad seal or fitting that can be replaced. Driving your truck, let alone towing a trailer with it, with an inadequate trans...

  • Transmission Oil Coolant Return Line Location and Transmission Cooler for a 2000 Ford F-250
I spoke with a local Ford dealership and found out that the return line from your factory cooler is indeed the one that is run to the rear of the transmission on your 2000 Ford F-250. You are correct, it is recommended that you install a transmission cooler in the return line of the factory transmission cooler. I would recommend the Derale Cooler, part # D13105, as the transmission cooler for your F-250. You will need a Derale Radiator Adapter Fitting for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury,...

If your 1998 Ford Explorer does not currently have heated mirrors you would not gain that feature by getting the CIPA Mirrors part numbers # CM43312 and # CM43313. Like you suspected it uses a factory connection that will not be present on vehicles without heated factory mirrors. If you have electric mirrors without heat you would want CIPA Mirrors # CM42195 and # CM42095. Adding an additional transmission cooler would be an excellent idea for you. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 1999 Ford F-150 with 5.4 liter V8
For towing a trailer like what you mentioned with a 1999 Ford F-150 a supplemental transmission cooler would be a great option that we would highly recommend. Most likely your truck came with a factory cooler but typically they do not do a very good job at all. Especially around the age of your truck. The newer vehicles have better coolers but the older ones are adequate at best for light duty applications. I'd recommend the part # D13503 as this is a very popular and efficient cooler...

  • How Difficult is it to Install a Transmission Cooler on a 2012 Ford F-150
Transmission coolers are fairly simple to install requiring just a bit of mechanical aptitude and some basic tools. If I had to rate the process on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being easy and 10 being hard, I would have to say about a 5. I have attached an install video for you. The process to install the cooler will not be the same as the attached video for your truck but very similar as the process will only differ slightly. As long as you have 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep of space...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2006 ford F150 5.4 with the Tow Package
You are on the right track, installing a supplemental transmission cooler to go along with the factory cooler to maximize the cooling of the transmission fluid is a great idea to prolong the life of your transmission. The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13504 would work great. • Remote Mounted Transmission Cooler for 2002 Ford F250 with 7.3L Diesel
If you do not have the necessary space directly behind the grille, a remote mount cooler with a fan would be your best bet for maximum cooling efficiency. A stacked plate cooler/ fan combo like part # D13950 offers a good balance between performance and relatively small size. You will want to mount the cooler in a protected location that has sufficient air flow to allow the fan to push air through the cooler. • Transmission Cooler for 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Towing 3000-lb Trailer
A transmission cooler is a sensible addition to almost any vehicle that will be towing a trailer. This is true even if the trailer weight is less than the vehicle's towing capacity. The 2008 Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L has a 3500-lb maximum trailer weight capacity according to the online manual I reviewed so a supplementary transmission cooler is definitely a good idea. Transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled. The recommended Derale cooler for your vehicle is item # D13503 which installs...

  • Recommendation For Transmission Cooling on 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty With 6.8 Engine
I would recommend to add an aftermarket transmission cooler to your 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty to prevent any damage to your transmission. The ideal operating temperature range of your transmission fluid should be 160 to 200 degrees. Adding the cooler will not bypass the existing factory cooler which is located inside the radiator. Adding a cooler provides supplemental cooling to the your factory cooler. Transmission coolers are universal fit items. What you will need to do is find out...

Yes, the transmission cooler is a fairly easy-do- it-yourself installation. For your 2006 Ford F-250 or F-350 with a 5.4 liter engine, you can purchase the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13025 to ease installation. This way you can avoid cutting the original transmission line and flaring the cut ends. For an at-home installation I would allow 2-1/2 to 3 hours or more for the installation. Given the distance you are going to drive and the weight of the trailer compared to the size of the vehicle I reocmmend going with the most efficient cooler that will fit in the engine compartment. The most efficient design is the stacked plate type of coolers such as # D13403. This cooler measures 13 inches across, 7-5/16 inches tall, and 2 inches front to back. Make sure you have this much space to mount the cooler. There are not specialty tools that you will need to perform the installation....

  • Determining Towing Capacity of 2014 Ford F-150 and Upgrade Options to Improve Performance
Subtracting the CGVW (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight) from the GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) is indeed the most accurate way to determine a particular vehicle's true towing capacity. Because there are so many potential variables as to what was actually added to the truck at the factory, this is the ideal method. With that being said I wasn't able to find any specifics on if or by how much not having the factory tow package would decrease the towing capacity of your F-150. It's also important...

Supplemental transmission coolers also work better than coolers that are integrated into your radiator system. My research shows that the transmission cooler in your truck is located below the radiator which typically gets a lot hotter and does not cool as well as a supplemental...

We have a 1/2 inch compression fitting to go from 1/2 inch line to 1/2 inch NPT barb # D13033. I would actually have the flow go from the transmission, to the factory cooler in the radiator, then from there to the other cooler, and then to the Derale cooler before going back to the transmission. This is the normal way to install a supplemental cooler (at the end of the line). The fitting we have listed for the 2005 Ford Expedition is # D13025 which are 5/8 inch inverted flare fittings.
