Excellent product for adapting 5/16 transmission lines for adding a transmission cooler. Could not find any 5/16 adapters like this at any of the local auto parts stores or hardware stores. everything was either 3/8 or 1/4 and had the wrong threads.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler and Parts Needed for Installation on 2011 GMC Sierra
For your 2011 GMC Sierra I recommend using a Derale 10,000 Series Stacked-Plate Cooler with -10 AN Fittings, like # D52510. I spoke with my contact at Derale and he said these coolers are popular among Allison transmission owners. When choosing a transmission cooler, the largest cooler that will fit in the space available in your engine compartment is typically the best. Generally speaking, the larger the cooler the better the cooler performance. A stacked-plate cooler is the most efficient...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse
For your 2011 Chevrolet Traverse, I would recommend installing the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, # D13503. The main difference between this transmission cooler and # D13303 is the design. The plate-fin design is more efficient that the tube-fin design because they force fluid between much smaller plates that agitate the fluid. The fluid leaving the plate-fin style is cooler because the smaller, flatter plates allow more fluid to contact the aluminum surface inside the...

  • How to Tap into Transmission Fluid Return Line on a 2012 Ford Expedition for a Transmission Cooler
The line that you will need to tap into is the transmission fluid return line. The easiest way to determine the return line on your 2012 Ford Expedition transmission is to start the truck, shift into drive but do not go anywhere. After about 15 seconds or so put the truck back in park and apply the emergency brake. Turn off the truck. Out of the 2 hoses attached to the transmission, one should be warmer than the other. The one that is cooler is the return line. You can use radiator adapter...

  • Will Derale # D13503 Transmission Cooler Work on 2007 a Toyota Highlander w/ 3.3L Engine
The Derale # D13503 transmission cooler isn't a vehicle specific item, so it would work just fine on your Highlander. The transmission cooler would install directly behind the grille, in front of the AC condenser and radiator, for maximum airflow. The cooler would tap into the transmission return line from the radiator to the transmission, the fitting you need will depend on the diameter of the transmission line. For a 5/16 diameter line, use the # D13031 fitting or the # D13032 for a 3/8...

  • Transmission and Engine Oil Cooler Recommendation for a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan
If you were looking for a transmission cooler for your 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, then I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, # D13502, that you referenced. This transmission cooler is rated for up to 6,000 lbs and the ideal installation location is in front of the AC condenser or radiator. The installation process could take some time for someone who does not have experience installing aftermarket coolers in vehicles. For those who are mechanically inclined,...

  • Recommended Derale Transmission Cooler for 2005 Chevy Venture Towing 1700 lb Tent Trailer
As a first step, you'll want to consult your owners manual to ensure you're not exceeding the towing or cargo capacity of your van. When choosing a transmission cooler, you'll usually want to choose the largest cooler that will fit in the space available (unless you live in a very cold climate.) The ideal spot to mount a cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator and a/c condenser. The # D13503 is a bit larger, and if you have the room to accommodate it's 11x8-3/4x7/8...

Both the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13611 and the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit , # D13501, would be a great choice for your 2011 Toyota Corolla. The general rule is that transmission fluid cannot be cooled too much, so using the largest cooler that will fit is a good idea, especially if towing. The only reason not to add the largest cooler possible, would be if you live in very cold climates where temperatures are below 0 degrees often...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation to Replace a Faulty Cooler in a 2006 Nissan Xterra
Aftermarket transmission coolers are typically marketed as supplemental coolers, not replacement coolers. If you are looking to replace your OEM transmission cooler due to a leaky or damaged cooler, then you will want to install the largest transmission cooler that will fit in the space available. The ideal place to install this cooler would be in front of the AC condenser or radiator to allow for adequate air flow. I would recommend looking at the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Cooler,...

  • Recommended Compression Fittings For Dodge Durango 2011 Citadel 5.7L Transmission Cooler
The insta-dapt comes with all of the Derale kits. It is unfortunately not always a fit as it is a universal adapter. You have a couple options, you can flare the lines you have or I recommend using compression fittings. To ensure you choose the correct compression fitting for your vehicle, you will want to measure the diameter of your transmission lines. The most common size is 3/8 inches, but it would be safe to measure first. I have attached links to the compression fittings that we...

Since we haven't had the chance to install a transmission cooler on a 2016 Volvo V60 Polestar yet I am not sure what kind of fitting that your transmission cooler uses. What you can do to ensure that it fits a transmission cooler is cut the fitting off of your hose, measure your hose diameter, and then choose a compression fitting that matches the diameter of your hose. We have one for a 3/8" Line # D13032, a 5/16" Line # D13031, and a 1/2" Line # D13033. You can then filter through our...

  • Transmission Cooler Installation Tips for a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis LS
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13503, would be a great choice for your 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis, as long as there is room in front of the radiator and ac condenser for the cooler to mount. Measure to be sure before purchasing, but most likely you will have plenty of room. The best tip I can give is to do some research on your vehicle. Check the radiator fittings and see if there are NPT (national pipe thread) fittings or Inverted flare fittings. Your vehicle...

We have not had any feedback concerning the Derale Transmission Line Compression Fitting Kit # D13031 being prone to leak. If the outside diameter of your transmission line is 5/16" on your 1995 Jeep YJ then these fittings are going to work for you. To make certain there is no leaking what you can do is use liquid thread tape (Leak Lock) to seak the threads on the components expect for the one that secures the compression ring. You can also use standard thread tape, just make sure it is...

  • Can the Factory Transmission Cooler on a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD be Replaced with Remote Cooler
It would be best to use a transmission cooler as a supplemental cooler to the factory transmission cooler. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica
A transmission cooler is always a good idea if you are towing. Overheating is one of the biggest causes for transmission failure because your transmission relies on the transmission fluid to stay cool. It is a good idea to get the largest transmission cooler possible because transmission fluid cannot be cooled too much, however, you will be limited by the...

Instead you can use a universal fitting like part # D13031 for 5/16 inch line, # D13032 for 3/8 inch line, or # D13033 for 1/2 inch line. Adding a transmission cooler is never a bad idea. Anytime you are towing a trailer, the engine and transmission have to work harder.
