Video Transcript for Review of Titan Replacement Shock Absorber For Titan Or Dico Model 60 Brake Actuator - T2336200

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this replacement shock absorber for the Titan Model 60 brake actuators. This is going to replace the shock absorber for the Titan Model 60 brake actuators. And this is also going to fit the Dico Model 60 brake actuators as well. Now, just to give you some overall dimensions, gonna pull out my ruler here.

Looking at the collapsed length, I'm not gonna be able to show you the extended length. But looking at the collapse length, lining up my ruler center to center here, we are sitting right at almost five inches as you can see there, center to center. So, that's gonna be the collapsed length. And on the extended length, this is gonna be sitting right at about 6 1/4 inches. So, if you are needing a replacement shock absorber for your Titan or Dico Model 60 brake actuator, this is going to be an exact replacement from Titan, so you can trust that it's going to work with your Model 60 brake actuators.

Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

Fit well on my 20 yr old trailex alum car trailer. This part along with a new master cylinder solved the shuttering when applying brakes. The hydraulic channels in the master cyl are tiny and corrosion can block the channels.

by:

Just finished putting brakes, rims and new tires on my boat trailer. Etrailer had everything I needed to get the Job done. I received my tires and wheels only to discover I was sent 3-14" tires and 1-15". I quickly called and talked with Courtney and she was very apologetic and made sure the right tire and rim were sent out the same day. I received it 5 days later and was able to complete the job. I will definitely use etrailer again in the future, it was a pleasure dealing with them. Here is a picture of my project.

by:

Fits and works perfectly. Rebuilt entire coupler and trailer springs

by:

Found this shock online here at etrailer which I had trouble finding anywhere else with any confidence. The listing on etrailer.com helped me identify the exact shock I needed for my 25 year old Surge unit. Fit right, works great! Thanks etrailer! Gary

by:

Exactly what I needed

by:

I had to enlarge one bore from 7/16 diameter to 1/2 to fit my surge brake model, Titan Aero 7500, but I knew that when I bought it and it wasn't difficult to drill out. Other than that, I think this will work for my surge brake setup.

by:

Working well. No more banging master cylinder when I stop.

by:

Ordered this shock absorber for the surge breaks on my car dolley. When I was towing my car on the dolley, the surge breaks would 'chuck' (swiftly engaging and disengaging causing the dolley and car to quickly stop / start as the breaks went on and off) The shock fit exactly and seems to have fixed the problem. That takes a lot of the worry about towing a car off my shoulders, and that is a good thing!!

I ordered the part on a Tuesday and it arrived here in Florida, after crossing half the country, on Friday morning. Great job!

It has been a year since I wrote this review. A year and 5000 miles. The shock absorber continues to do its job as designed. Anyone with this chucking problem should take a look at this cure. Easy to do and worth the effort

by:

It did the job.

by:

Item appeared to have been installed / used though listed as new. The part’s appearance does not matter but getting long service life does

by:

part is correct and is now installed on trailer hitch

still working fine good quality

by:

Etrailer transaction was easy and delivery of the shock and master cylinder was fast. Both products installed without any mods and my boat trailer is a dream to tow now.

by:

Parts match perfectly. Parts came 2 days early.

by:

There was a loud clunk and you could feel it when using the surge brakes on our ski boat trailer. The master cylinder was badly pitted. Now the braking is smooth and responsive.

by:

thanks it finally made it safe

by:

I was pleased with the brake lines and trailer shock absorber. I received what was shown. They came in a timely manner, was what I needed and was reasonably priced. Thank you. I am installing them today. Will be back to order more parts in the future.

by:

easy install on hydraulic brake actuator for 6000 lb boat/trailer. trailer was slamming when stopping/starting

by:

This was exactly what I needed to fix the tongue on my trailer. It was sliding in and out about three inches, causing a bang when a started and stopped. The trailer is for a 2000 Bayliner boat. This shock absorber matched the old one perfectly. And, it only took about ten minutes to replace.
Perfect part and delivered very quickly.

by:

Product came well packaged, and was identical to the shock being replaced easy install, no more clanking when starting and stopping ( also replaced master cylinder)

by:

Easy install

by:

Brakes were rebuilt with etrailer parts and are working great. Thanks // etrailer.

by:

This part fit perfectly on my 2009 boat trailer replacing the broken part and solving a problem.

by:

Replaced the shock in my Titan 60 actuator assembly along with the actuator itself. Less expensive and easier than replacing the whole Titan 60. This part took all or 5 min.

by:

Identical match, easily installed.

by:

Didn't know exactly what I was looking for but they knew what it was & found it & showed it to me on line & I had in few days. It cured my trailer brake issues with one phone call. GREAT JOB

  • Replacing the Shock Absorber on a Titan Model 60 Actuator
The current shock absorber on your Titan Model 60 actuator won't be under any kind of pressure so it is simply a matter of taking the actuator apart to get at the absorber. The Replacement Shock Absorber for Titan Model 60 Brake Actuators # T2336200 may need to be slightly compressed when you fit it into the actuator but this is something that can be done by hand. It should be fully expanded when you receive it so you won't have to worry about expanding it for the installation.

  • Replacement Master Cylinder for Older Model Titan Model 60 Brake Actuator
I spoke with my technical contact at Titan and showed him the photo that you sent in of your actuator. My contact confirmed that you actuator is a Model 60. The right replacement master cylinder for you will depend on what kind of brakes the actuator is designed for. If the brakes have never been changed out, you can determine this by checking if the trailer has disc or drum brakes. If your actuator is designed for drum brakes, you will want the Replacement Master Cylinder Assembly #...

  • Trailer Brake Actuator Can be Easily Moved by Hand
You are correct, there should be resistance and you probably would not be able to move it by hand without some sort of lever if it was working properly. It does sound like it is time for a new one or repair the old one. If your actuator is a bolt on then it would easier to just get a new one rather than replace parts on the old one. There are several models available depending on the capacity you need, the type of brakes on the trailer (disc or drum), and the type of lockout, if any, it...

  • Worn Out Actuator Shock Troubleshooting, Loud Clanking on Acceleration
It sounds like the shock is worn out in your coupler and it is no longer functioning as a dampener to allow the coupler to return slowly and that is the clanking sound you are hearing. • Replacement Shock for Worn Out One on a Titan Model 60 Trailer Coupler
It does indeed sound like the shock is shot. The shock basically prevents the moving part of the coupler from banging around when stopping and accelerating. If you can easily move the coupler in and out by hand then it is for sure the shock. For the model 60 actuators use shock # T2336200. You mentioned adjusting the trailer brakes but make sure you have not adjusted them too far. There should be a slight but constant drag of the pads on the drum when the wheel is turned. • Troubleshooting Hydraulic Trailer Brakes Initially Locking Up After Coming to a Stop
It sounds like the shock absorber might be the issue here. The shock absorber, like part # T2336200 for Dexter Model 60 Brake Actuators, is designed to "push" the actuator back into a naturally opened position but it sounds like your coupler is staying compressed until your tow vehicle pulls it back open, which is why your trailer brakes are still activated until that initial "pull" you're feeling after a stop. Your trailer coupler should be very difficult to compress by hand (typically...

  • My Surge Brakes Are Activating When I Back Up My Trailer - What Can I Do?
Hello Gregg, I think I can help shed some light on what is going on. Basically, there are two ways to stop surge brakes from actuating when backing up the trailer. The first and most popular way to do this is to use a surge brake actuator with a reverse lockout. For example, the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator# DX56FR has an electric lockout. The solenoid is wired to the reverse light circuit on the tow vehicle. This way when the vehicle is put in reverse, the actuator will be locked...

  • Right Side Hydraulic Trailer Brake Locks Up After Braking
You may be getting air in the lines or have a wheel cylinder that needs to be replaced. It is also possible that you have the wrong side brake assembly on that right side but since it is only an issue after braking this is probably not the case. There could be something in the brake assembly itself that is getting stuck. I recommend pulling the wheel and drum off to inspect the operation of the brakes, check for any foreign objects that might be causing the malfunction. If the wheel cylinder...

If you have a Titan Model 60 Brake Actuator then the Replacement Shock Absorber will work for you but unfortunately, I don't have any information on what brake actuator is on your military trailer. • Hydraulic Trailer Brakes Lock Up Moving Forward Using Titan Brake Actuator
Disc brake actuators like # T4747200 do not have a check valve in them or a device to keep pressure in the system like drum brake actuators do. On a drum brake actuator there is a check valve inside the master cylinder that regulates the amount of pressure that goes back to the brakes. The wheel cylinders on hydraulic drum brakes will hold pressure as well. If the master cylinder and wheel cylinders (if the trailer has drum brakes) are fine then you could have some air in the system or...

It does sound like the shock is not returning. We do carry the part you need. It is Titan Shock Absorber for Model 60 Brake Actuators, # T2336200. If the Titan coupler you have is for disc brake applications and it were used on drum brake applications, the psi level would be too high. Also the brake lines and fittings normally used for drum brakes would not be large enough for disc brake applications. The push rod could also be in need of replacement. It is part # T2346300. A shock absorber's tongue like on the Titan Replacement Shock Absorber for Titan Model 60 Brake Actuators # T2336200 referenced in your question will not normally return on its own after bleeding the brakes. Typically you will have to manually pull it back out. Brakes on a 12K axle are pretty big so you could use 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 or # 10-2-1, each sold by the foot. Otherwise 12 gauge wire # 12-1-1 could be used. In other words, tighten the bolt so it's snug but NOT so tight that it compresses the housing, or you'll turn the actuator into a coupler.
