Question:
What is the difference between the two, tekonsha primus 90155 and the primus 90160 brake controllers. I want to install this on my 2014 ram. I have purchased the wire harness from mopar. The major differences between the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller, # TK90160, and the prior Primus model 90155 is that the IQ is self-leveling, has built-in diagnostics, and comes with a lifetime warranty where as the 90155 model has to be manually leveled, no diagnostics, and only comes with a 15 year warranty.
When wiring the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller, # TK90160, in your 2014 Ram 1500, the easiest way would be to use the Custom Wiring Adapter, # 3023-P. Just plug the one end of the adapter into the controller and the other end into the ports up under your dash and you are ready to go.
If you choose to use the wiring harness that you purchased from the dealer, this will be a hardwired installation. You will need to connect the wires from the brake controller to those on the Mopar harness according to function, not color.
