Troubleshooting 4-Way Wire Harness installation On 2009 Cadillac SRX
Question:
I received the wiring kit and found the harness on the vehicle. I installed the green with the right turn, same on harness and the yellow with the left turn. I checked on the harness with the test light as to which turn signal was which. When connected to both rear turn signals went on at the same time. so if I turned on my left blinker, both blinkers in the rear blinked, on the left one in the front and same for the other side. What is the problem? 2009 Cadillac SRX vehicle converter kit #46155

The wiring harnesses and kit, part # HM48895 and part # HM46155 you referenced in your question are not designed to be a fit for your 2009 Cadillac SRX.
If you find that you have the correct wire harness for your SRX you can check the wiring to make sure all of the wires have been connected as the instructions state. Also, you will want to make sure the ground wire has been secured to a clean bare metal surface. Loose or corroded grounds can cause some of the same problems you described.
The Wire harness kit I recommend is the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part # C59236. This kit adapts the 3-wire system on your Cadillac to a 2-wire system for the trailer. You can check out the installation video I have attached that shows a wiring harness being installed on an SRX.
I have attached a helpful article for wiring you can check out. I have also attached a helpful article that shows how to troubleshoot 4-way wiring installations.
