Is a Stabilization Strap Needed to Carry a Hitch Bike Rack with a 2015 Acura MDX
Question:
Hello, I am considering purchasing this hitch for my new 2015 MDX. My wife and I plan on using the hitch with our Thule bike rack. However, I noticed a note that indicated that using the hitch with a bike rack necessitated using supporting staps. Otherwise the warranty was voided. I guess I am confused as I have never used supporting straps for any bike rack mounted into a hitch and dont understand why this is necessary with your hitch. Thank you.

The stabilizer strap part # 18050 is recommended by Curt on hitches that aren't rated for weight distribution systems to help take some of the vertical shock that a non-supported hitch accessory can exert on a hitch over bumps. This is a precaution that Curt recommends for their hitches. To see how this product works and installs check out the video I attached to the right.
The other option you have would be to get a hitch like the # e98840 that has also been confirmed to fit your 2015 Acura MDX and doesn't require the strap you referenced. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.
