Should the Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA Beep When Shifted into Reverse
Question:
When putting our van in reverse we hear either 2 beeps, 1 beep, or no beeps. Can you describe how the sensor operates at the time the vehicle is put into reverse?

Expert Reply:
The Back Up sensor is designed to start beeping when you are approximately 5-1/2 feet away from an obstacle.
If it beeps when you put the vehicle in reverse it must be sensing something as when we have tested this unit and it was properly installed it would only start beeping once it started sensing things behind the vehicle. You might try adjusting the angle of the sensors till you find a setting that allows the sensor to work properly.
