How to Install a Brake Controller in a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II
Question:
I have a 2000 Land Rover Discovery. I purchased your Prodigy controller, and you ETBC7 kit. Under the dash, I have access to both the actual brake switch wiring, and, to a gray-colored plug in the LR harness. 1 Is there an adapter to the harness connector if it is even for trailer that I can use with the prodigy instead of cutting switch wires? I can provide a picture of the connector if helpful it is right next to the fuse box hanging unused. 2 At the rear of the vehicle I have the Hella 7 pin EU connector: can i either use an adapter if available or splice into the Hella connector wires, or should I run a new wire from the front of vehicle to the 7-way blade adapter for US trailers? What is the best way to add the Prodigy and 7 pin US connector on this vehicle? Thanks

What you can do is test the wiring of the connector you found with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to see if there is a stoplight switch circuit on the harness that you could use to install the Prodigy Brake controller part # 90885, but we do not have a plug in harness that will allow for brake controller installation on your vehicle. If not, then you will need to wire the controller up to the wiring of your brake switch like the install instructions for the # ETBC7 indicate.
I would recommend bypassing the Euro 7-way you have and run the brake output circuit of the controller to the brake output circuit of the 7-way blade of the # ETBC7.
