If you have a 4-way connector at the rear of your 2004 Ford Expedition, you will need to use an adapter to give you a 7-way connector.
I recommend using the Hopkins Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole, part # 37185. As the enclosed photo shows, you would plug this into your existing 4-way connector and with additional wiring have a 4-way and 7-way connector.
If additional wiring is needed when installing this adapter, I recommend using our jacketed, 2-wire 10 gauge wire, part # 10-2-1. This is sold by the foot. If you are connecting a brake controller I recommend using the 10 gauge primary wire, part # 10-1-1. This is also sold by the foot.
If ring terminals are needed I recommend using part # 44-5310A, and for butt connectors I recommend part # 05732-2.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
If you do not have a 4-way connector at the rear of your Expedition, I recommend the Draw-Tite Wiring, part # 18252. This will be hardwired to your vehicle wiring and includes the connectors and a circuit tester.
