Would a Slider Hitch Hit Tailgate of a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 SXT Short Box When Slid Back

Question:

If I were to have this slider hitch in my pickup, would the back of the pin box make contact with the tailgate when in the maneuvering position? I believe the box size is 64. Not sure the make of pin box. Its on a 2014 jayco eagle 33.5rets. The pin box does look to angle upwards quite a bit, just wondering if its enough angle to clear or not.

If your truck bed is 64 inches long on your 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 SXT Short Box 4 door pickup, then yes the slider would hit your tailgate in the maneuver position. The only solution for you at this point would be to use a Sidewinder pin box and a stationary hitch. More on that later...

If you meant to type that your truck bed is 6 foot 4 inches then it would work fine and there would be no tailgate interference.

Now about Sidewinders, you will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have know in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
