Troubleshooting Installation of Swagman Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable # S64031

Question:

Hi, I ordered this last year and recently posted on FB my frustration over not getting a satisfactory response to a problem I ran into on it. The cable end that fits over the pin will not go far enough past the angle-iron piece so that the lock will fit back on. I sent a customer service person an email set of photos shortly after I ordered the set to show the problem, but I never heard back. I did see what I thought was a response on FB, but when I went to look at it, it had disappeared. I have to cobble this together to make it work, and its very frustrating to not have a system that works as intended. Is there anything we can do to resolve this ? I dont want to go to the bother of sending photos again unless someone is actually going to do something to help resolve this...

Thank you for your purchase last year of a Draw-Tite Class I Sportframe Hitch 24579 and also a Swagman XTC-2 Platform Bike Carrier # S64670. I do not see it among your purchased items but it sounds like you are also using Swagman's Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable # S64031. This lock is designed for use on your XTC2 rack. If you are using a different product please advise.

Please note that the threaded anti-rattle bolt has to be fully tightened before it will reach through the hitch tube and the rack's shank to extend out far enough to engage the lock. Also note that there are two holes in the shank of the XTC2, the one nearest the vehicle is for the threaded anti-rattle bolt that fits into the lock housing; the one nearest the bikes is for use with the supplied Allen bolt that secures the two angled steel adapter brackets that let this rack fit into a 2-inch hitch. These L-shaped brackets go INSIDE the hitch tube, not outside it. Please see the linked video.
They are NOT needed with a 1-1/4-inch hitch like your Sportframe.

If you believe you have the items installed correctly then do please send photos to me by replying to this email. Once I have them I can contact Swagman and determine that nature of the issue and the appropriate corrective action.
