The Hopkins Heavy-Duty Trailer 7-Way to 4-Wire Adapter # HM47065 is intended to plug in to a tow vehicle 7-way socket, take its lighting signals only (not a brake signal or 12V power) and route them to the 4-pole flat connector. When an adapter reduces the number of wires it also reduces the number of electrical circuits and therefore the number of functions.

A trailer with electric brakes will need to have at least a 5-pole wiring harness (one more wire to provide one more function) as compared to a 4-pole. A brake circuit requires heavier wire than this adapter uses, typically 12-gauge or even larger 10-gauge.

If you look at the linked article on trailer wiring you will see the various types of trailer connectors and their typical wire color and function assignments.

If you wish you can reply with the nature of your vehicle's and trailer's connectors and I will check for a product(s) suited to your requirements.
