The trimming and drilling is minor for base plate installation on your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. I've linked the installation instructions for Roadmaster base plates # RM-521440-5 so you can see what is involved in the installation.

In addition to the base plates you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.

For a tow bar I recommend the Sterling All Terrain, # RM-576, rated for 8,000 pounds. It also includes safety cables.

For lighting, if you will not be towing the Jeep often, a magnetic kit, # RM-2120, is a low-cost option.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the Jeep brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

In order for the braking system to work properly you will also need stop light switch kit # RM-751449.

Be sure to consult your Jeep owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
