Can a Hub/Drum Be Installed on Axle Without Electric Brake Assembly
Question:
could i use a spare brake drum assembly on the axle without brakestanden axle or would the drum be in the way

Expert Reply:
If your trailer axle is not equipped with electric drum brake assemblies like # 23-27 from Dexter you could still have a hub/drum assembly like # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K in place, however the inside surface of the drum would likely develop some corrosion from exposure to moisture. If your intention is to install the hub now and later add the electric brake assemblies this would be okay provided that the lack of braking does not bring the trailer into violation of your local laws or present an unsafe situation.
