How to Install Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera on Vehicle with a 7-Way that Doesn't Come Apart
Question:
you have listed in your question/answer section that the Tinch connector will simply plug in to my factory 7 way on my 2006 Toyota Tundra, but my factory plug does not come apart in the back. am I missing something or will I need to wire it differently? thanks

Expert Reply:
If the 7-way at the rear of your 2006 Toyota Tundra does not come apart you could hardwire the Hopkins Camera part # HM50002 to your current 7-way. You would need to separate the reverse light circuit from the harness leading to the 7-way. This wire can be purple and will be the center pole of your 7-way. This wire will run to the red wire of the camera's harness. The black wire will need to be grounded. You can run this to the ground of the 7-way (5:00 position), or could be grounded to any metal surface that touches the vehicle frame.
