Troubleshooting a Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller, Green Light Doesn't Come On
Question:
i just installed your tekonsha 39510-3035p and your 37185-7 way converter kit on my 2006 ford f150 with factory 4 way trailer plug . after connecting everything according to your easily understood video 2001 f150, i adjusted the level using the green light etc and everything seemed to work fine when i connected the 7 pin to the trailer.. however two days later i hooked up the trailer to do a final adustment and no green light on the controller. I spent all day today circuit testing everthing. seems i have no power going back to the 7 pin via the hot ford orange wire that i spliced into the black wire of the 37185. i have power going to the black wire under the dash going to the controller tho. one strange thingwhen i connect the circuit tester light to the blue wire anywhere from the truck side to the trailer side and to a ground-the controller green light comes on. my light tester didnt light but seemed to act as a ground. the 30 amp fuses for the electric trailer brake in the fuse box are fine but i did notice there was no relay in the trailer tow battery charge inch position. need help- i hope i didnt short the controller.

According to Tekonsha there are 2 reasons that the green light of the Voyager part # 118242 wouldn't illuminate when connected to a trailer. Corrosion on the trailer connectors or a bad power or ground wire to the brake controller.
Since you have already checked the power and ground for the controller it sounds like the problem is on the brake output circuit of your trailer like you have already somewhat figured out. I would start at the brake assemblies and make sure they are grounded to a clean metal surface. From there work your way up to the trailer connectors and make sure there is no corrosion in the connectors. Clean as necessary.
I attached an FAQ on troubleshooting brake controller installs for you to check out as well.
