Aluminum Fascia Support on 2009 Infiniti G37 is Welded On and Cant Install Trailer Hitch

Question:

Im in the process of installing the Curt C11499 hitch receiver on my 2009 Inifiniti G37x. Ive drilled the holes, removed the lower appearance panel and cut the lower fascia. When I removed the 4 M8 bolts that are supposed to hold the aluminum fascia support to the bumper, it did not come off. Upon further inspection the fascia support on my vehicle is welded to the bumper at the top in 3 spots! How am I supposed to remove the fascia support to sandwich the hitch mount between that and the bumper if its welded and why was this not mentioned?

I spoke with my contact at Curt. There have been only 2 or 3 cases where customers with the same vehicle have found that the plate in question is welded on. Infiniti seems to have welded only some models but not all.

The solution that other customers have come up with is to use a pry bar to push that panel back and forth to break the welds.

Another option would be to cut the welds but you would likely not be able to get a tool in there to do so. I wish there was a more definitive answer, but this is a rare issue that doesn't have an alternate solution other than to break those welds.
