The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller, part # 90885 is an excellent brake controller that I'd highly recommend. It's one of our best sellers, and is the controller I find myself recommending most often. The controller is very easy to use, and is extremely popular with our customers.
You won't need a wiring adapter, because the tow package wiring terminates in bare ended wires under the dash, between the steering column and the emergency brake. Look for a bundle of wires with a white tag hanging off of it. The controller would wire directly to the tow package wiring as follows:
Tow package red or red and black striped wire connects to black wire on brake controller
Tow package blue wire connects to blue wire on controller
Lt Blue -OR- orange tow package wire connects to red controller wire
White tow package wire connects to white controller wire
Check the fuse box located under the hood of your Suburban, which is located on the inside of the driver's side fender. Check fuse location 63 and 68. Number 63 powers the brake controller while number 68 powers the 12volt accessory feed to the trailer. The owner's manual didn't provide a rating for those fuses, but the brake controller fuse is usually 30 amp and the 12volt power feed us usually protected by a 40 amp fuse. Just to be sure, I'd contact your Chevy dealer for confirmation of the fuse ratings.
I'll link you to our Brake Controller Install Guide, which I hope you'll find helpful.
