What are the Measurements of Thule Adapter Bar 982XT When Fully Collapsed
Question:
I would like to mount my sons bike 16inch tires onto my Thule Vertex 5. Your description of the Thule TH982XT Frame Adapter says the minimum length is 16. This dimension doesnt provide enough information. Is the adapter bar 16inch from end to end when fully collapsed including the end hooks? Or is 16inch the length between the closest point of each end hook? The end hooks appear to have a couple inches of open space inside, and I want to know the smallest dimension for mounting a small bike even if the hooks stick out past the seat post and handlebar mount. The Thule Vertex 5 has an anti-sway cradle that will prevent side to side movement when the bike and frame adapter are mounted, so it doesnt matter if the hooks stick out past the seat post and handlebar mount as long as I can get the adapter bar installed.

I measured the adapter bar # TH982XT and when full collapsed it measures 24-1/4 inches end to end, 20 inches on center, and 15-1/2 inches from the beginning of one opening to the beginning of the other opening.
