Locating Reverse Light Wire to Install 4-Way to 5-Way Adapter on 2010 Acura MDX
Question:
Hi, I have a 2010 that has a 4 pole trailer connector. I now need a 5 pole due to a trailer with surge brakes. A friend of mine bought one from etrailer a while ago but didnt use it and was kind enough to give it to me. However, I am not sure where the reverse light wire is for the MDX that I need to tape into with the blue wire? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

It looks like the reverse lights themselves are on the hatch of your 2010 Acura MDX. You should be able to access a reverse light wire directly behind one of the lights provided there is a way to access the backs of the assemblies. You will likely have to remove a panel to do so. The other option is to locate where the wiring exits the hatch to go into the vehicle. It is likely at the top of the hatch. You would have to cut away the sheathing to the wires and use a circuit tester, # PTW2993, to locate the reverse light wire.
It is possible that a friendly Acura dealer can get you access to the backs of the light assemblies if there isn't an obvious way to do so.
