Recommended Hitch For 2000 Ford Explorer With 16 Inch Spare Tire
Question:
I have a 2000 Ford Explorer and am looking at a Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch. The information indicates that it won't fit with a 16 inch spare, but reviewers have said it fits snug, but does fit. Which is right? Should I get a different hitch?

For your 2000 Ford Explorer, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class lll Max frame Hitch, part # 75096. Per the attached installation instructions, there is no drilling required for installation, and it will work with the full-size spare tire. The towing weight capacity of this hitch is 5,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 500 lbs.
Another Class lll hitch that works with the full size spare is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13540. This hitch
has a 4,000 lb towing capacity and a tongue weight capacity of 400 lbs.
